I have heard from Pre-Dental officers that putting skills such as practicing the violin or sports on the application show hand-eye coordination could help with your application. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to put recreational card-counting as one of them? Though not illegal, it is easy to attribute negative connotations with the concept or should I word it differently as "interest in the mathematics of BlackJack?"

You want to put card counting in your dental school application's skill section?

You could explain it as a hobby that has a system you've learned, or how you like the intellectual challenge and stimulation... maybe?

interesting approach.
I can tell them I like doing things with my hand..like lots of things...

Totally. I listed Mario Kart 64 under my skills section and got a bunch of interview invites. At the interview the dean challenged me to a race and I almost lapped him. Was so impressed that he accepted me on the spot. Go for it.

I loved mario kart as a kid when it was on one of those old nintendo machines.

I put that I typed over 100 wpm on the manual dexterity section... Was a nice ice breaker and laugh during every interview.

I'm trying to figure out what card counting has to do with hand eye coordination. You aren't using your hand at all.

I put down that I was unbeaten in thumb war...the dean challenged me and after toying with him for 30 seconds i yanked my arm in an awkward way that made my wrist crack...i then fell to the floor screaming and clutching my wrist yelling "you broke my wrist you racist bastard! If you don't let me in i'll sue your ass!" ....and that's the last time i was legally allowed to enter the Marquette School of Dentistry
