Where are the good cardiac anestehsia fellowships?

So far I've heard:
Clevelend Clinic
Texas Heart
Emory
Mayo
?Stanford
?Columbia

Anyone know of any others or any scoop on the above named places?

Along those lines...What is the benefit of doing a cardiac fellowship these days? All of my senior residents and attendings say it is a dying specialty. Any truth to that?

The benefit is the ability to deal with the sickest patients and being able to use TEE. Groups still look at this kind of training with respect on the job hunt, so at the least it makes you a more attractive hire.

Speaking of this, I was told that it will no longer be possible (at least at my institution) to get "TEE certified" without a cardiac fellowship. Is this across the board, or is my institution no longer getting enough cases to get people certified without the fellowship?

NBE Extends Practice Experience Pathway to Certification in Perioperative TEE
We have just received a very important announcement from the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE): The Board of Directors of the NBE have just adopted a major policy change whereby physicians who complete their core residency training BEFORE July 1, 2009 will forever be able to follow the Practice Experience Pathway to certification in Perioperative TEE. This is a VERY significant change and of great relevance to SCA members.
