I know that it's somewhat lamer-kind of question but I need to clearify it, it may be asked before but I didnt see btw.

How cardology fellowship works? If one should apply for cardiology residency after completing three years of IM residency or during residency? Is it possible to apply for cardiology residency years after completing IM residency? Thanks

Edit:

Thanks, I learned the way it works.

typically people apply for fellowship in cardiology during their PGY-2 year of residency. however, you can apply during your PGY-3 year, or even go off and be a hospitalist for a while and apply then. so in short, you can be applying for fellowship anytime from your PGY-2 year and on.
