I am currently an anesthesiologist/ Division Chief at an academic medical center. I like my position but always want to keep my options open and in the next 10 years would like to move into hospital administration. Currently I am a member of ACHE and MGMA and will pursue fellowship opportunites. I am hoping to start an MHA next year. My problem is I am having trouble finding people who have made the transition from clinical medicine to administration and how exactly to make that transition. Do I get my MHA and then apply for jobs at an outside institution? After getting my MHA do I try for a COO job or is there another step to take? Thank you.
