Why would you go through med school if you don't want to practice as a physician?

Based on your post history, you're still a pre-med. Go to medical school only if you want to practice medicine. If you were to go to an elite medical school, you'd probably have a shot at successfully pivoting careers; for example, McKinsey hires physicians as management consultants. But if you want to maximize your chances of achieving success in the business world, you'd be way better off getting an MBA from a top business school, or even a JD from a top law school.

Hi there, previous investment banker and management consultant who is now pre-med. It is ridiculous to get your MD just to work in an entry-level finance job, don't do that.

If you're really interested in consulting, then yes, consulting companies will hire you post-MD, but that seems like a very roundabout way to becoming a consultant (something you can do as an entry-level job as well).
