If a U.S. permanent resident/citizen goes to the Carribean and he/she doesn't do well in the USMLE, what are the chances that he/she will get clinical rotations and residency as compared to a Canadian student who doesn't do well on the boards either?

Are the chances for U.S. permanent residents/citizens to get clinical rotations and residency higher than Canadians if they are IMGs from carribean schools?

I heard that one needs to get higher than 85 percentile in order to get a placement into the US hospitals if they went to carribean schools such as st. george, ross, auc, etc. Is it true and does it apply to both U.S. and canadian students?

These may be stupid questions but i m just a little concerned and confused at this point...my gpa is 3.85 overall. i got 27N (7V, 11BS, 9PS) and lots of volunteer work. At this point, i m not too sure what to do...as to write the MCAT again and wait for another year or just go to the carribean schools....i m just trying to think ahead and trying to see whether its safe to just head out to the carribean schools.

I have already applied to st. George and my file is under review and have almost applied to ross. If you could please answer these questions, I would appreciate it.

Well in your case a residency may be easier to get due to not needing a visa.

As far as clinicals, they are not a problem usually.

SGU is going to accept you they would be foolish not to.

Thanks oldpro...I must say that I m canadian...is getting visa going to be a problem?

What's the minimum step 1 and 2 scores to get you clinical/residency?
