is it worth it to go for a case interview for the alternate list? i live in CA, and I don't want to waste $$$, if chances of admittance are close to none

I was there a few weeks ago and it sounds like they will be taking people from the alternate list. How many though?? Well, that varies and the admissions guy said anywhere from 5-25, but they won't know until at least May and then all the way up to day 1 of classes, this is what past years have been like. (excluding last year when they accepted 5 too many). As for your chances...it depends on your GPA and DAT score. If they are really good then you will be in the top of the alternate list.

Right, that's what I meant when I said, they accepted 5 too many applicants. They ended up having to set-up 5 new stations for the class of 2009. Actually they set-up 3 I think because they already had 2 extra units.

Just curious... what made it sound like they were going to take some people off waitlist this year?

It was just the impression he gave. Last year they made the mistake of offering too many acceptances and so they were particularly careful not to make the same mistake. Therefore I got the impression that instead of offering too many, they would use the alternate list to fine tune there class. I guess I could be wrong though.

I for one have cancelled my interview for the alt list. Like you VAIO I'm from Cali, and I don't want to go there just to be on the alternate list.
