so i have my first interview this week and i have read all the feedback on sdn and i have done everything else but i was wondering if anyone that has interviewed this cycle has any other advice

Ya, don't stress out...it will be pretty easy. Just remember to express everything you want them to know about you at the interview. Also, try to ask questions specially related to Case, ie: new curriculum, sealant program, so that they know you did your homework!

Good luck

i have read that case is pass/fail is this true?

It is pass fail, but I wouldn't ask. It may come off like you aren't a hard worker.

I will tell you what ever you want about the day, just ask.

ok well here are a few questions:

Is it hard to find where you need to go in the morning?

Did you ask when you are going to find out whether you are going to be accepted or not?

....if i can think of more i will throw them up! Thanks.

Yes, it will be kind of hard for you to find your way, get a detailed map of campus. Where are you staying? If you take a cab and tell the driver you need to go to case, he could drop you off anywhere.

Dalsky told me that it would be dec 3rd or 4th by the time the letter gets to you. You will get a letter regardless. But they send it out on dec 1.

2, 1 hr interviews, then tour and lunch. It was nice to get the interview over with. Lunch was great, good cafeteria. I was done by 1:30

Two interviews, with each of them one hour long? Wow.

Exactly, if it wasn't my first interview back on Aug 14, I would have died. But I didn't know better.

Seriously, man. That's rough. I'm definitely hoping that I don't have to go to my interview at Case.

You are right it was long, but it was really casual.

i was wondering how casual it was i have read somewhere that they tell you what they are going to ask in advance then you go in already knowing what they want to talk about. is that true?

Well...they tell you what they are going to ask at the beginning of the interview. But it's during the interview they tell you that. It's not like you have any time to really formulate your answers. But they are really general quesitons, like what was you life like starting at the beginning and to where you are now, why dentistry, undegrad, etc. It's really laid back.

Depends on who interviews you, some give you a relaxed-structured interview, while another may do the interview in a conversation format. Either way, I believe Case has one of the most laid back interview.

It is hard, yes it was conversational, but that conversation was an hour with the dean of admissions. Then an hour again with another ADCOM. So there was some stress, but any stress was because of length of interviews not difficulty of questions.

an hour long? you must be the exception, not the norm. i'd say they're about 20min max

my 2 interviews were also an hour long each but they flew by.

also, it is pretty difficult to find the shuttle stops if you are going to use the shuttle. if you use the shuttle just ask people walking around until someone can tell you where a stop is located. tell the shuttle driver to drop you off in front of the medical school building. if you take a cab have them drop you off in from of the medical school.

then, you will walk down a long sidewalk towards the medical school building, walk through the foyer of the medical school. you will walk straight and then i think the exit is off towards your right. behind the medical school building there are 2 unassuming block shaped buildings that look identical. one is the nursing building and one is the dental building.

if you have trouble finding the shuttle stops or the dental building just ask people. everyone was very nice and one guy ended up actually taking me to the dental building, which was very nice 🙂 . but leave yourself PLENTY of time to get there if you don't scout it out the day before.

Building should be EASY to find.... just find the street that leads up to the giant hospital and the giant biomedical research building and the dental school is across the street from the research building and beside the hospital.

My first interview was pretty structured while my second interview (w. assoc. dean of grad studies) was just a convo about random things.
