Are you a Cali resident? What is the make up of UC Davis's residents? Are they all from Cali? If they are and you aren't maybe that could be the tie breaker.
not having interviewed at either of them (i.e. take what i say as word of mouth ONLY)...I have heard amazing things about the quality of training at UC-D. In fact, I met a number of residents along the trail that ended up ranking it #1 (or close to #1) when I was interviewing.
I know nothing of Case Western...it could be just as good or better...but I do know I've heard VERY positive things about Davis
to address the above post, UC Davis takes people from all around the country. For 2009, only one of the 4 residents that matched there was from a california med school. It's my dream program and I'm very fortunate to have matched here.
Case Western is a great program as well...the residents seem to get great training and great fellowships. The only downside for me was that it wasn't in california.
