I interviewed there in Nov. and got put on hold 2 weeks later----in the letter it says that all on hold people will hear a "final" decision by April 15th-----but "final" decision could mean waitlisted, then not accepted until a later point?

Yes, it could unfortunately.

Somewhere in one of these threads I read that a hold usually leads to 50% rejection, and 50% wait list at Case. I am in the same boat is you, got my letter earlier this week.

i know i asked before but i didn't get a clear answer. Is interviewing in February at case or cleveland pretty much an interview for the waitlist rather than a spot? i need some insider prespective becuase i really don't have the funds to travel just to be put on a waitlist ... thanks 👍

I thought that my Case interview went well, but a week and a half later I get a nice hold letter.....goes to show you that trying to judge how your interview went is a waste of time. Also, why doesn't Case just reject people now instead of keeping us in purgatory for a possible wait list spot.

I'm almost positive there are still open slots if thats what you mean. People get accepted post-interview throughout the interview season.

Put on hold by Case... this sucks. 🙁

Actually I guess I was surprised at there only being one adult trauma center for a city that size (I see now both Rainbow and MetroHealth are ACS Level 1 Pedi centers).

Mt. Sinai, which was in University Circle, was a trauma center. Not sure about St. Luke's, which also recently closed.

MetroHealth is a level-1 trauma center and they get all the choppers/EMS etc. Shadowing there is good stuff.

Cleveland Clinic ED tends to be mostly internal stuff, as the Clinic doesn't too much like patients who can't pay. I.e., they're snobby.

Cleveland's population is actually only about 600k. I'm not sure how many L-1 trauma centers it needs.

Maybe for comparison, SF General is the only L1 trauma center on the peninsula and serves a similar sized population in san francisco.

Has anyone heard anything since being put on hold? Were there any outright post-interview acceptances or rejections?
