bumping for g-g... and me...

no you dont get to know your interviewer's name before the interview. no i didnt stay with a studentl. have fun.

Experience: excellent. Very impressed with curriculum, attitude of the dean, approach to teaching/learning, facilities. The interview day is extremely long.

I stayed with a CWRU student who lives near the CC. He offered insights on the differences between the schools. The students who I met on the interview day (3 of them) seemed kind of...nerdy.

definitely nerdy.
no shame there.... we all are at some level...
anyway, ditto to the great attitude at the school... like they want you to have every opportunity to develop into a sweet physician/researcher... not that you have to engage in research later on, but they consider it an important part of the medical education.

i stayed with a cwru student. i'm curious to know what the cclcm first year students think now that they;ve had more than a month of school.
(i'm on hold there... nuts)

for those who have interviewed there - do you mind sharing how detailed the interviewers were? the day's itinerary indicated two interviews (each about an hour). i assume that one is with a phd and the other w/ an md. is that right? i'm going over past/current research...anyway, thanks for any input in advance.

The interviews were pretty detailed, I thought...but pretty "conversational" overall, as much as an interview at the #4 hospital's superspecial medical education program can be...don't assume, I interviewed with two MD's although there was a PhD there that the other interviewees met...there are two interviews, and I didn't know who they were until I got their names on a personalized itinerary in the morning. DO go over your past/current research, they will ask a lot of questions about that, and any theses or articles you may have written.
It was amazing, but the day is long, and you have like 4 tours before you interview, and everyone wants to know if you have any questions.
that's my two cents about my dream program...

I second everything he said, conversational interviews where you were expected to be at a high level of education/awareness and knowledge pertaining to research experience. Very long tours and an overall exhausting day, I had nothing left for the Case interview the following day.

oy, i totally concur, i was so tired after all the tours, I was worried I didn't have anything left in me for the interviews at CCLCM or Case!

I think I win on this one! Flew overnight from Cali (no sleep), took the subway from Cleveland airport which drops you off in the semi-dodgy neighborhood south of CC, and got to the morning orientation session late. Case the next day, Ohio State after that.

Would highly recommend this shotgun approach to interviews. 👎

If anyone has received a decision, do you have an idea of how long it takes CCLCM to make a decision following your interview?

When did you interview? When did they notify you?

Thanks in advance.

Hey fellow CCLCM interviewees:

I interviewed on Oct 21, and was put on hold a week later. Basically, because the program size is so small, admissions is reluctant to accept too many people off the bat. So most of us are put on hold for a while. That's what they told me when I called. Thought I'd pass it along. Anyway, it's not even Dec yet, so we have a ways to go in the application process. Good luck! :luck:

Did they notify you that you were on hold (email or snail)? Or did you have to call and find out?

Thanks!!

Gobblety_gook:

I received my hold letter by snail mail (actually received it twice in a week). Apparently the first letter wasn't signed by the dean, so they resent a signed one a few days later. Best of luck! :luck:

so i was a lucky one i suppose....but im sorta worried. i got a call last wed....and they told me i was in...but i havent gotten a letter yet? nor an email? was it a mistake or a dream?? please dont tell me otherwise...its my #1 pick....i dont want to interview anymore..bleh

Jason

interviewed oct 4th
can't remember the actual notification date, but like the other poster said, i got two letters (dated ~1 week apart)... one signed and one unsigned...

i interviewed on oct 25 and haven't heard anything. think i should call?

Jason,

If you are looking for when they make decisions..I think that they decide on the Third Thursday of every month. So if you interviewed after Nov 18th....your case will be decided upon on Dec 16th.

I interviewed on October 28th and was notified of my acceptance on Nov 24th by phone...a week after the decisions were made. I have yet to receive the letter...but i hope it will come soon. good luck

a couple weeks ago, someone on a different thread said that the word from the director of admissions was that the next committee meeting is tomorrow.

all i know is that another person who was accepted on this board had an interview in mid oct and found out by the end of october. and i could have sworn that i had heard from Ms. Myers that they do it on the 3rd thursday of every month. though....with the holidays and all...it wouldnt surprise me if they did do it tommorow (Dec 9th) instead.

i interviewed there around mid-november. one of my interviews was with the chairman of admissions (no i won't tell you who he is...). i wrote both of my interviewers a thank you e-mail a week after my interview. the chair said that i'd be hearing from him during the week of 12/6. so i'd say the turnover time is about 3-4 weeks. hope that helps.

They used to have a schedule on the cclcm website and it said when all the admissions committee meetings were. It might still be there. I know for sure that meetings were held everything other Thursday last year. Last year, it also seemed like they were able to make an initial decision on your app on the meeting date immediately after your interview. For example, my interview was on a Thursday and the decision to place me on hold was made that same day (letter was mailed 4 days later on Monday). I imagine things are a little different this year because there are probably a lot more applicants. Anyway, best of luck.

medstylee,

Did you interview at the Clinic? What were your thoughts last year? Did you end up attending?

Any news? sigh...the wait is killing me...this program is SO awesome...I'd love to be accepted without having to go through the hold list...

GOOD LUCK to everyone waiting to hear!!

i know... the waiting is the worst! i interviewed 5 weeks ago today and still have not heard a thing. i'm kind of confused by all of the people being put on hold though because at the interview dr. hutzler kept saying not to be surprised if we didn't hear anything from them for awhile. i ended up calling the office yesterday to see if i could find out anything more about my status... left a message and havent heard back yet.

Sorry about that. I feel for you all. Leaving a message doesn't help...just try again until you get someone. 🙂

Also I am not sure if schools are able to give you your status over the phone? Unless they call you....thats a totally different story.

I interviewed in late october and called on 12/1. I was told that a "HOLD" letter was mailed to me the previous day, so mail is on the way for most of us.

No not yet. I actually spoke to Ms. Myers today. She was so wonderful...and verified my acceptance. She said that she personally mailed out the letters so I should expect mine anyday. In addition, if you get accepted, there is no deposit!!!

😀

so what do you think of the school? i am so excited...really i am. the curriculum, the staff and the 1st years are so incredibly great. did you have any issues with the school? thanks! 🙂

well, i came away very, very impressed after my interviews at CCLCM. i loved almost everything about the program, but i am slightly hesistant about the lack of lectures, which i believe are critical because the exposure to an expert in a particular field is important. still - current 1st years told me that they're treated so well at the school, lots of attention from faculty. another thing: i wonder what the residency match rate will be? i guess i'm just a little nervous because this year is only the second entering class of the program. i have an offer from OSU also, another one of my top choices (go bucks!). the decision will be fairly hard i think. =)

lectures? im glad we dont have them. i have rarely learned anything in a lecture...to each his own i guess. though...if you ever have a question im sure you can ask someone. evveryone seems to be an expert!

residency match? im sure we would match as well as CWRU students if not better!

yes i am sorta worried about the "newness" of the program (what would the board passage scores/rates be?).....but im comforted that it is ultimately a part of cwru. it seems that cclcm has the resources to make things happen for us! plus i hear they are very receptive to change....

ok a big bonus...is that financially...it would be a great decision for me. with that PI grant...wow....it makes it as cheap to attend my local schools.

also what are your opinions on cleveland? safety? weather? etc.....
second question....i believe that our rotations will be done at CCF..but some will also be done at CCF affiliated hospitals and healthcenters correct? CCF is like a cream of the crop hospital...sigh

yes, but keep in mind that that's what you would get ideally in terms of financial aid (the PI grant). i think cleveland is nice, but much more industrial than columbus. i think the Case campus area is fairly safe, though the clinic area is a bit more sketchy from what I've heard. As for the weather, it gets pretty cold in the winter and there's lots, lots of snow. Are you planning on going to the revisit weekend? Perhaps I'll see you there. Hopefully, I'll have made a decision by then as to whether I'll attend CCLCM or not. 😳

ME TOO!! I interviewed in the middle of Nov and still haven't heard a peep. Do waitlists come by snail mail and acceptances by phone call?

dont know about holds....but my acceptance was phone then letter (though I hear others are getting emails as well).

holds most likely do not involve a phone call....er so i think...
