CCLCM- When Will we hear if we got in?!?!?!??!?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i'm pretty sure they take no more than 4 weeks to get back to you. since they only interview about 200 people, they have very quick turn around times. good luck. it's a fantastic school (i interviewed previously but did not get in)

The med students were saying that last year, they had a very quick turn around time, but I guess they're doing it differently this year and won't be giving immediate acceptances. But if you get an acceptance, you'll receive a call from Dr. Franco. Good luck!

Does anyone know an exact date when the committee meets? Are we likely to get in because we did interview early?

last year, you could go to the cclcm website and look on the faculty calendar. it listed the dates/times of the admissions committee meetings. i believe they used to be every other thursday afternoon. i think also that your pretty much certain to be reviewed for the meeting directly following your interview date. at least, that's what some of us figured. who knows though, cause they have a new admissions dean this year. in any case, i think that they did make more acceptances earlier than later last year. good luck.

Oh, that's too bad. I remember some students telling me they heard a week after their interview that they had gotten in. Must've been nice 🙂 .
Anyway, first person who finds out, please post so I can start actively worrying

Hmm all of you have already interviewed. Well I hope November is not too late... It seems like a fantastic program anyhow. I need to read up on all my research projects though (friggin 5 of them).

i looked on the calendar. It doesn't say when admissions committees are meeting. Does anyone know what day they will start accepting?

I never really got the big deal over these tablets. So you can write on it and it get saved into your computer? Big deal. You can just type and it'd be the same thing. Is there something I'm missing here?

Are they calling today?

What is happening?

Who is being accepted?

Hmm, do you want to call CCLCM admissions office for me? 😀

****!

That's a tremendous idea

Wait, I don't think I want to bother them.

When did you interview? I interviewed on October 7th. If you call them up and find out what time we get our decisions, I will send you 5$ by mail

Well, I think Liz Myers would answer, and she's a sweetheart--she wouldn't be bothered at all. I was joking though, I don't expect you to call. I'll pass on your generous offer 😀 . Personally, I'd rather not know the bad news TOO soon.

PLEASE CALL- I am begging you. Ask when everyone hears- because i am sick and tired of waiting.

I did call. They were very mysterious, and she said we'd find out by email "soon", which is different from what waterlily said, so I'm not sure what's going on anymore. Hey, so it's your turn to call now. , Why don't you call Dean Franco this time? 😉

It was a depressing day for my PM box.

OK, I'm going to go ahead and predict I'm on the waitlist....unless, they've somehow decided to contact earliest interviewed students LAST, which makes...loads of sense 😳 .

i called (I interviewed in oct 3)... and the phone lady told me to wait some more 😵

I interviewed october 7

This seriously makes no sense

What did they say when they told you to wait. When do we get our results?

hey greekpre-med, i expect the see $5 in my mail the next week or so, she said that they meet once a month (so at the end of oct), so an approx time would be first week of nov... why am i the one calling? I also called Case today and heard that they mailed out their letter last night and can't tell me over the phone.

according to my PMs, they've met at least once already for the month of october.

I interviewed last week and they actually called me this week to tell me.

i guess i'm not their material *sniff* *waiting by the mail for that thin letter then*

Has anyone received a waitlist letter on their email?!???!?!?!

Have they already accepted everyone they wanted to so far?

Thanks alot

I hope not. I dont interview until December.

There is an easy way to find out if we are on the wait list, accepted, or rejected.

For those who got in, did you all get the call on the same day?

Please post what time/day you were accepted

I think there are like 3 people checking this thread every 10 minutes. No email today.

I just joined. I too was interviwed a few weeks ago, but haven't heard anything. Someone here said that they recieved a call a week after their interview, was the call to inform of acceptance?

Yes it was for that person. They PM'ed me. I just want to know if they all got their responses in the same day. THat way, I would know if I was put on a wait list.

I called CCLCM per the request of funshine, and I got this run-around from the admissions people. I got this vacuous answer, "Soon you will know."

That, my friends, is BS. At least tell me, "No, you are not accepted or yes you are accepted."

Do you know what the hardest part is? I shall tell you.

EVERYONE THERE IS TOO NICE. At least be an ass to me so that i don't think i have a chance if i really don't.

Thoughts, comments, reflections, but most of all, WHAT DAY DID THE PEOPLE GET A CALL THIS WEEK would be appreciated. Hopefully, not everyone got in the same day so we have a chance

GreekPre-med

No, there's a difference between being vacuous and being "too nice."
I wish they could give us a more clear-cut answer. Something like "If you haven't received a phone call, you haven't been accepted yet. Your file is still being considered though, and will be considered until X date."
Is it really that hard??

So, based on what you guys just said, should I assume that, since I haven't gotten a call yet, that I am not accepted?

Heavens, no! I'm just displaying my positive attitude. I'm not sure what's going thru GreekPreMed's mind.

Look here,

Just PM the two people who got in and see what day they were accepted. If they were CALLED On the same day then we are probalby waitlisted or rejected.

Funshine, I called last so please PM them.

I think they were both called on Monday, but I'll PM to make sure--just for you  . Anyway, it doesn't matter if they were called on the same day. It just means we haven't been accepted, NOT that we've been rejected. I bet they don't even put together a waitlist until much later. Remember, they accept a small class and it's still early in the interview season. So, I think our files have been put back in the "interview pool" and we'll continue getting reviewed every month.

This is TORTURE.

You guys really need to to RELAX!!! Just b/c you guys haven't received any calls yet doesn't mean that you didn't get in. So as I said earlier, last year, they gave out very quick outcomes. However, a student on the adcom told us that they're doing it differently this year. They're not going to be giving out that much immediate acceptances. SOO just b/c 2 people got called already doesn't mean you aren't accepted. So just relax, stop calling the office everyday. This makes me not want to post up my acceptances b/c of freaking out like this.

Thank you for your kind words. I wish I was as completely awesome as you.

Yes please relax. You all still have a great shot. This is what I was told: They accept a few students they really liked or something or matched really well with their program as they felt. The other people are great candidates that they are still interested in but since it's rolling they want to compare them with those that are interviewing later also. So tons and tons of people get re-reviewed and compared time and time again just because that's how they deal with the process.

I got the call Tuesday actually, I think about 2 business days after my interview. I think it's pretty random and they don't do the whole "call a bunch of people on a certain day to admit" It seems like everything is really done more on an individual basis.

Thanks for clarifying. Congradulations.

Has anyone received a letter from CCLCM? If yes, what is it about?

Is CCLCM this way:
Acceptance = phone call
Rejection/waitlist = letter?

Has anyone got any "letters" from CCLCM?

To reiterate what Waterlily and Tennisnr2 was saying, I don't think they will be offering as many immediate acceptances this year. The adcom is interviewing more people this year and do not want to risk overbooking the small class size of 32. I tend to think of their interview process as 1/2 non-rolling admissions. That's because they interview through March and would like to evaluate all candidates against each other. So if you'll remember from last year, several people had to wait till after April to hear their status.

Good luck though, the fact that you interviewed so early is a good sign that they're really impressed!

I hope that I've impressed them enough to accept me after the interview. Anyways, they told me on the phone that the committee has met and a decision letter has been sent to me via snail mail. Based on your logic, I guess it could only mean rejection. Even though I'm almost convinced it's a rejection a part of me still remains optimistic. I wont know for sure until I actually get the letter. Until then, ANTACIDS here I come (joking).

Something just hit me.

Having heard from other medical schools that it is AGAINST THE LAW to inform applicants of their final status (rejection, waitlist, acceptance) over the PHONE, how is it that CCLCM phoned some of the accepted applicants?

I think this law is set by AAMC and is not school dependent!

Also, has anyone got any letters from them?

Hi, I haven't really been paying attention to the thread earlier, but if anyone has already been accepted:

Could you let me know what the turnaround time is between interview and notification of acceptance/rejection/waitlist?

I have my interview scheduled 11/28 and I'm kind of anxious. I would've done it earlier but I needed to do my CCLCM/Case interviews consecutively.

When I interviewed there a few days ago, my interviewer had a piece of paper that said, "Immediate accept, Accept, Waitlist, Reject."

So unless you get a phone call IMMEDIATELY afterwards, I'm thinking that you could either be an Accept (which then you'll be compared to other applicants), or Waitlisted.

My guy told me that they don't Reject too many people.

As unimaginably comforting as your comment about "not rejecting many applicants" sounds, the logic of the situation implies otherwise! They interview 200 applicants and only accept 32 to 40, which leaves approximately 160 interviewed applicants eventually rejected. Rejecting 160 applicants may not seem a lot, but it is 80% of the interviewed!

I doubt it's quite that bad. All 32 people who get accepted aren't going to go. Look at someone like waterlily who has acceptances to multiple schools. I think a more realistic figure would be that about 10-15 of that original group actually goes (all the schools are accepting the same high MCAT-high GPA, good research people right now) so the school would have to accept about 50 or 60 people to fill their class. And of the people who interview who get waitlisted, a lot will pull out of the waitlist once they get accepted to someplace else, so really it could be that almost 100 people will either get accepted or desert the waitlist of their own accord. So, now the odds are like 50/50. Don't you feel better?
