Okay I just got an e-mail back that my app is waiting to be reviewed. There's no timeline really and the apps are reviewed based on when they were complete.
EEL08, I'm complete too -- but why in the world does it take a month to hear back? I thought there were less people applying to DO-schools, so the process should go faster -- right? Doesn't the AACOMAS site say only 1 in 4 are DO-doctors; so by that logic we should have 1/4 the applicant-pool, and a faster process! Am I missing something, folks?
I was curious as to what the professors at CCOM were like. Do most of them have an open door policy where if you have a question you can stop by to ask or are they so busy with research they don't have time for the students? Also, I know some schools have mentor programs with a faculty member and a second year. Does CCOM have anything similar to this?
Most depatments have notes that they give you or that you buy at the beginning of each quarter, and they really are complete, menaing that you do not need a textbook. Power point lectures are put on Blackboard, but there is no recording of lectures.

to whoever wrote on my MDapps, honestly, regardless of YOUR stats, I do feel I have a chance at this school.

Don't worry about the jerks! You do have a good chance. It's my top choice too, and I have similar stats. I'm still waiting for my LOR's to get there, but hopefully we will both get interviews soon!
Good luck to you!
It's looking like I'm going to be releasing my acceptance back out into the world in a day or so. I like the school, but its looking like I will most likely be attending MSUCOM over CCOM. Hopefully this will hope one of you guys out!
good luck!![]()
I officially gave up my seat this week. It was a tough one. Hope all you people waiting or on the wait list have some good news for the holidays!! Good luck everyone!!![]()
For those of you who are deciding not to go to CCOM, would you care to share your reason(s) with us? 🙂
Im still waiting to hear back from my state schools..and have some more interviews, but as of now Im going to CCOM and sending my deposit in soon. Do you guys know where most of the students live..those who choose to live off campus. Id like to live in an apartment in downer's grove close to the school, so I was just seeing if anyone knew anything about that! thanks

I have the same question! Thanks, PianoRock11, for sharing some apt/condo names 🙂 V helpful!
Does CCOM help its students find off-campus housing or are we sort of on our own? Given the fact that it's in the suburbs, does that affect average rent? More importantly, what is the average rent in that area? How does one find roommates? I DEFINITELY would prefer off-campus, mostly because the idea of living in a dorm again sans kitchen is less than appealing.
Just as a reminder, in case you weren't aware, CCOM has a few on-campus APARTMENTS (not dorms) that are very new and pretty nice, from what I understand. I talked to the housing lady about this and she said the rent (if you live alone) is anywhere from $900-1500 per month, and it is representative of the area.
So although I haven't fully explored the renting situation since I'm looking at condos, expect rent to be in the $1000 range if you live alone, maybe a little less if you have a roommate. Which, by the way, is insane considering you're in a suburb of Chicago. Hopefully you can find something a little cheaper.
Go to www.google.com/maps and type in "apartments in downers grove" or "apartments in lombard." The school is in Downers Grove, but it's right on the border of Lombard. It gives you real listings linked to a location, so you can see how close they are to the school. 👍

in my opinion, the "apartments" are disgusting.i have a friend who got duped into signing a contract for one, and he is seriously regretting it. they are incredibly old and rundown, pretty nasty and overpriced. in the redwood dorms there are "suites" available that have a living area, a bedroom, and seperate bathroom, etc. those are pretty nice though.
city view at the highlands gives a pretty nice discount to CCOM students, i believe something like 860 for a one bed...they are really nice. google "city view at the highlands" in lombard , il
ADCOM meets on thursday..i'm pretty nervous. I would like to go to CCOM but they've been kind of tough this year so we'll see what happens...keep your fingers crossed.
they said they will call everyone that was accepted on thursday.....
i hate waiting for the phone call!
good luck karizma!
Does anyone know if the ADCOM will take a look at the post-interview alternative list ppl? I find it really interesting that qualified applicants who interviewed early are being put on the alternative list and at the same time the ADCOM is extending interviews to 3.1/low 20's MCAT students..not that i'm hating 🙂

My first time applying, my MCAT and GPA are in the mid 20's and 3.1 range.
I'm not sure why i got taken off that pre - interview waitlist - maybe my extracurrics stood out, my M.S, research, who knows. I know that i called and called and updated and made it known that CCOM was my top choice. Usually i think the students who get interviews with lower end stats ( such as mine ) are ones that are local and CCOM knows will most likely matriculate....
i think.
in any case, i believe they mentioned in the interview that there is no alternate list movement until spring time...so good luck!
Wait, you got an interview? Last I knew you were on the pre-interview waitlist so maybe I'm just not up-to-date.
hey, yeah, i got taken off the waitlist last friday , and then given an interview on monday. From what I can conceive the interview went very well, but you never really know in these types of situations...plus i guess a good interview doesnt necessarily = an acceptance at CCOM. the committee has to review your file, looks at MCAT, GPA, and interview scores, then makes a decision based on that. they have been placing people on the alternate list like crazy this year so who knows what will happen.
the ADCOM meets on thursday i think, so keep your fingers crossed for me. CCOM is my top choice so if i get in i will be able to relax for the rest of the year! If not, i will be bummed out indefinitely 🙁
Well I just got my rejection letter from CCOM. I've figured out nothing good comes in the mail anymore. I told my husband I'm doing us a favor by narrowing down the number of schools we have to think about.Well good luck to everyone else!
