did anyone who interviewed at the end of november/early december get a call yet?? adcom was supposed to let people know today in the afternoon sometime...it's about 115 chicago time and no call yet for me....sigh..i feel impending doom 🙁

Relax, they're probably backlogged like no other right now so be patient. I doubt you'll hear anything today, give it some time. 😉

I never got a call when I got in...just a letter.

!! so weird..
i called CCOM just now bc i was getting pretty anxious - the woman who i spoke to over the phone told me there was no adcom meeting scheduled for today, and that no acceptances or anything are scheduled as of yet...she also said since the dean has to sign off on any acceptances before they let people know - they cant tell anyone for a bit bc the dean is out of town until next week...so strange - i called them on tuesday and they told me today was the day..i'm confused, but eh, i guess it's just more of a waiting game now.

^ They meet once a month in the "middle of the month." In October and November, they met on the 20th or so and then sent the letters out. I got mine sometime around November 26th. So if they continue doing this pattern, they'll meet around the 20th and you'll get your letter around the 25th. Good luck.

I am so frustrated with CCOM! My secondary has been complete for OVER 6 weeks now and I still have not heard ANYTHING and now I wrote them an email on three days ago that they still have not answered. I am local and have emailed/called several times but now it's like I am in some sort of information black hole with them. Should I call them/email them again today again? I feel like they are going to get a restraining order against me soon!

Just got an interview invitation for the end of January. I was kind of shocked first becuase i was a thin envelope and I thought it would be a rejection of some sorts. But then I saw a travel planning broshure. Are interviews one-on-one, panel, open or clsed file? It seems like Interview feedback is offering some contradicted info. BTW, I was completed end of October.

You got some good interviews up in your sleeve already. it is time to share. 🙂

i'll give you all of my interviews for CCOM.. too bad that isn't allowed!! Id do it in a heartbeat!!

so seriously, congrats!!!

I just got an invite!!! The thin envelope is very scary. What day is your interview DObound? I'm scheduled for Jan 29th... I still can't believe it.

I just got the invite today too! Gonna be tough because I think I'm going to have to put down the deposit for AZCOM by then, but I feel like I've definitely gotta go and check it out. Their match list is insane!

Still no news for me. Still on the pre-interview waitlist....sucksss

wow guys, im really jealous. 🙁 how often do they do rounds of invites?

how did you find out if you were on some sort of interview waitlist??

for whoever asked..the interviewer was you and 3 other people..well for me it was. and it was open file i think..because i remember them flipping through all my papers. it wasnt anything stressful..just your basic questions i thought! interviewers weren't overly friendly..but they were fine! best of luck!🙂

I just withdrew my acceptance from CCOM.
There's one more spot for you guys!
Good luck.

I just scheduled mine for Feb. 1st. I'm surprised that there's not a whole lotta discussion here too, from what I've heard it's a great school (the DO I shadowed went there and she was constantly raving about it and Chicago).

Anyone out there interview at both AZCOM and CCOM? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

When were you complete at CCOM? I felt like I had a pretty solid application and it still took me 2 months to get an interview invite.
Looks like you've got a good one too, so just keep the faith and I'm sure it'll work out for you.👍
Enjoy Arizona though, I loved it out there!

I did. I'm from Chicago and went to my AZCOM interview before CCOM. I was fully intent on staying in Chicago, but then I saw the campus. Now mind you, I'm a lover of the outdoors, so the mountains in the distance grabbed me right away. The Midwestern campus is on a huge plot of land they're still building new stuff on. Everything is incredibly new, the student housing is incredibly nice, and the students appear very happy. The climate may take some adjustment, but I was just struck with how beautiful the campus is. It's located in Glendale, an up-and-coming, very pretty suburb of Phoenix. Just about everything you'd need is within a few minutes of campus.

Some of this was in stark contrast to CCOM. The facilities are older [although still more than adequate], and some of the student housing looks like the pits (although off-campus housing is much nicer and more amply priced). The students here also seemed very happy, friendly, and excited to be studying medicine.

I walked away from AZCOM thinking I was going there. CCOM's interview was nice but did very little to change my mind. Many of the AZCOM faculty are former CCOM'ers as well. The board scores in AZ are very very high as well. That's all I have time for now, but remember: both schools are great schools and will educate you very well. We're all lucky to be considered by either. 🙂 Good luck!

I was complete 11.07.. I guess I still have a little waiting to do.. I just want to make sure I find out before Jan 30th if Im getting anything since I'll be in Hong Kong from then till Feb 20.. sucks.. right in the middle of my apparent prime interview time.

Hi there,

I am a new member of SDN and I was just wondering if anyone else had an interview at CCOM on 1/17/08. Maybe we could share a cab or get together for dinner or something. Also any information regarding CCOM or suggested overnight accomodations or travel options would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.😀

I was complete back in July and received a letter in the beginning of November saying that I was placed on a interview wait list.

It's kind of frustrating seeming that they are my #1 choice and I have been interviewing and accepted at others schools (some with higher stats).

I was in a very similar situation. I'm from Chicago. I had my interview at CCOM followed by my interview at AZCOM 2 days later. On the surface, I was more impressed by AZCOM because of things like a gorgeous campus, the bustling Phoenix area, the high board scores, the "chill" student body wearing tank tops and shorts year round to class, all the new stuff they're building.

But then I came back home, thought some things over, and realized that CCOM is definitely a better choice. There are other posts about this, but some of the administration at AZCOM is in a transitory state right now. Because of that, all the questions I asked were answered with a "We don't know at this time." Questions that I asked:

-Where are the locations for clinical sites?
-Will all the core sites be in the Phoenix area, or will we be required to travel out of state for clinicals?
-What's the process by which you sign up for electives?
-Why are there x-many weeks of family medicine and only x-many weeks of internal?

Every time I asked a question, they said either "We don't know" or "We're working on that and we'll have it more structured at the start of the school year."

I've been accepted into a few schools (CCOM, AZCOM, DMU-COM, and OSU-COM). It wasn't easy to decline the offer of any of these great schools, but AZCOM was definitely the least difficult.

For the record, I'll be attending CCOM. Hope this helps anyone who's debating between either of the 2 Midwesterns.

I was complete the end of Oct. and got my interview invite in the mail today!!! looks like I'll be there the end of Jan... anyone have any advice/input on the interview day/structure?! thank you!!

Hi guys! I was wondering what people are planning on doing for the night before interviews. Is anyone staying with a med student?

I am going to drive to campus so I know where to go in the morning and drive around Chicago, maybe eat somewhere.

i was complete on 11/7. i'm SUPER interested in this school but am wondering how long it takes to hear something...i'm on pins and needles. seriously, i run to the mailbox everyday.

I got the alternate list today.

it was my top choice, and i thought my interviews went well. my fall grades werent exceptionally hot either , looks like i'm screwed. 🙁

i just found out today, the letter was dated for December 14th..this is going to ruin the rest of break.

in any case, good luck, hopefully you fare better than i did.👍

Does anyone know more about the alternate list from CCOM?

success rate from past years? CCOM was my top choice and this was just a total blow to me.

i was waitlisted too. suckage.

Wait, so they lied to you when you called last week? That's cold-blooded. I hope everything works out, maybe we'll end up classmates.

i called them last week as well and they also told me committee hadnt met...are they freaking accepting ANYONE this year ? waitlists left and right.

CCOM doesn't start taking people off of the waitlist until their interview season is over.....so you guys will be waiting until late April or so. I was waitlist with them last year (and was accepted off of the waitlist, but chose to go to DCOM instead), so I know on their system works. It is a long wait, but hopefully it works out for you guys.

im still on the interview waitlist. 🙁 its a first choice for me too but i really love TOUROCOM NY... so i dont know anymore.

it also seemed as though the clinical opportunities at CCOM are much better than AZCOM. Remember AZCOM is in a much smaller city...fewer hospitals and fighting for rotation space against other more established med schools.

That's probably a valid point.
