CCOM Interview Discussion thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Mine was updated after I got the admissions phone call. So I'm guessing as soon as your info is put into the system, your interact now account is updated.

Edit: Ok that sounded completely obvious, but what I meant was that if it's not updated yet, either there has been no decision or the administration hasn't gotten around to updating.

If you call, they can at least tell you if something has been mailed or not.

woohoo!!! I got into CCOM this morning!! I checked my status page on the MWU website, and it said that I've been accepted!! I got no phonecall or letter yet.

Info that may help:

Application complete: 9/13
Interview invite: 9/15
Intervied on: 10/23
Accepted on: 11/26

So after much anticipation, I got waitlisted at CCOM today. I was informed by snailmail. Didn't expect that was coming...interviewed on 10/29. I am really depressed now. I thought I had a great chance..my interview went really well too 🙁

BCPM 4.0, overall 3.96, MCAT 28

it seems like CCOM is more interested in accepting people randomly this year than ones who are genuinely interested in attending there. as a re-applicant this year i'm pretty bitter to get the waitlist as well. sigh.

how could you possibly know if someone is genuinely interested or not, in attending CCOM?

yayy i just got my letter today too!! 🙂 congrats everyoneeee

yeah, it's a cool grand 😱

I applied to the RMED program at UIC, so if I'm granted an interview, I won't know until around Xmas or so.

What is the RMED program megboo? BTW, my husband was accepted to UIC back in the '90s when they weren't even doing interviews.

Hey there! I think i remember you... I was the the guy from NY (fond of mountain biking😀)

It's their Rural Med program off the Rockford campus. Its first entering class was in '93. First year is in Champaign-Urbana and the rest is in Rockford. You have to apply to UIC and meet all their requirements + LORs, then fill out the RMED supplementary app and send in more essays and LORs. If they like you, then they invite you to interview. They save about 20 or so spots and recommend you for admission (or not) in the end.

urgh...i just found out i got waitlisted..do you think it's cuz i didnt have a letter from a DO? my stats were above avg and i thought the interview went well...this bites

Congrats to you all that were accepted. For those that were waitlisted, don't get too discouraged....just patient. It can take quite a while for the waitlist to start moving. Just keep updating your file with anything new or interesting.
Marcia

I didnt have a DO letter or do any DO shadowing, so i dont think they base it off of that

seems like ccom waitlisted a bunch of qualified applicants this time..

Sorry about this.. At my interview session they said that if your stats are within their average and you're waitlisted the likely explanation was a bad interview.. So maybe despite your feelings something was off or something.. Not so much help sorry but that's what they said...

The applicants I know that got in were extremely well-qualified (other than myself). I met a lot of interesting people on my interview trail.

a non-trad EMT, a PharmD grad, a non-trad Englishman with a couple degrees, a cool guy with a career in bioscience research, and so on. And that was just my interview day.

And what about those of us on the pre-interview waitlist?....

yeah, same here. But I think that if people got interviews this early the school was interested in them and they passed the initial screening of the applications, which is the hard part. I thought the point of the interview was to just get to know the applicant a little better. If the interview went well, they should have been accepted not waitlisted..

how do you know if you are on a pre-interview waitlist?? if you can't call the school for your status.. do they snail mail you? what if ive heard nothing and its been since 11/06.. ?? does that mean im on a list? or help!

E-mail them. Their website says that they will not give any application status information over the phone, but they are able to respond to your emails.

True. There is always the chance the a "good" interview perceived by the applicant is a "bad" interview perceived by the adcom.

That's what I did. I e-mailed them and was told that my app is waiting to be reviewed. I was complete on 10/31. Still nothing.

What did you do to exactly get off? Send anything in? Make any special calls? Just wondering since I think I was right behind you on that list 😉

Ya, I'm on the pre-interview waitlist and didn't hear anything today either. I really really really want to go to CCOM and would do anything to get an interview let alone an acceptance there..bleh I hate this waiting...:scared:

i got off the list this morning at around 9..as far as making special calls, i just made it known that i really wanted to go- i called and spoke to the counselors, i always introduced myself so they knew my name, etc..they said they were taking people off the list because they had some cancellations next week , so i guess as soon as people start giving up some interview spots they pull us off the list!

That is funny...I thought I had a terrible interview. The DO interviewer and I had a brawl about some ethical issues and I swear he hated me. I was sure I didn't get in, but then received an acceptance 2 weeks later...thank god

Best of luck to those waitlisted, don't get discouraged. This process is long and tedious, but in the end all the hard work and emotional energy we spend will be worth it.

keep the faith guys!!

my cousin also got pulled off the waitlist this morning - they also told him as people withdrew interviews and more days are scheduled, they are taking people off the pre-interview waitlist after reviewing them again briefly...

i'm currently on the post interview waitlist myself...there were some hangups with my interview file and i might have to go in again soon and meet with the ADCOM ...sometimes its so frustrating, especially if your stats are more than few points over the average..

i'm currently a student at Rush in chicago and i know that a lot of fairly competitive people in our grad program have been waitlisted, so it's definitely a spread out problem.

good luck to you all 👍

I'll be declining my acceptance offer pretty soon, so hopefully that helps someone out. Good luck!

That is awesome! A young Walter Sobchak!
