CCOM Interview Discussion thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So at one of my interviews, someone said I should not fly into MIDWAY( I booked there b/c someone had actually told me to fly into there) for CCOM. So what is the suggestions? I have never been there, and I will be renting a car.

yeah you might be better off at midway... O'Hare is HUGE. As long as your renting a car your fine. No worries, except for the delayed flights but that is everywhere. Good luck :luck::luck:

Make that three votes for midway. O'Hare is a monster. Even though it is geographically closer to Downers Grove, it would probably be a little easier finding your way around the airport itself. The hotels near Ohare are a little better though.

you are my hero. lol that totally flew past me...thanks 👍 now im gonna write those Q's down haha

After the admission people talked and the dean talked, and so many students walked in to wish us luck, I honestly had no more questions. They answered everything before I got to the interview. I saved a few for them tho 👍

You know what sucks though? I went on an interview with question in mind like that. They answered every question, before I could ask, and then some in the Q&A session, during tours and even during the interviews. Then they stop and ask you do you have any questions. ARGGGH. We all know how important it is to have questions for your interviewer, but what if every conceivable question is answered? You can't ask them again, because then you look like an arse if they know this was explained before.😕
sorry for posting what you already said.

It's all good. I was talking about another school anyway. I am still hoping for a CCOM interview.

Me, too!

I'm very late though. I ran out of secondary money, but I think I'm finally getting it sent this weekend! I hope it's not too late for me...

You're not late, they're just starting their interview season. I haven't even gotten my app out yet (waiting for AACOMAS now), and I'm really hopeful for CCOM!

I wish they'd hurry up and finish the I-88 construction. It's been going on for years now!!!

The I-88 Construction has gotten much much better! You know once that they finish, it will be time to start again though, that's just the cycle out here! Now, it's 294 that is a wreck! I had to go to park ridge, and it took me over an hour to go about 6 miles in that crap!

So, those of you coming in from O'Hare (or Midway really), plan some extra travel time for our crappy construction. Also, stay at a hotel near the school! There are a ton to pick from, and you can check out the area!

I just wish there would be a time, even if it's just a week, that there was no construction on I-88. It's bad now by Naperville since they're widening the road.

When people ask me about the harsh winters living up here, I tell them we actually have only 2 seasons here - winter and construction season 😱

For discussion of the school noted above for INTERVIEW DATES ONLY!. Threads will be merged in here if they are created on their own. If you are looking for the general discussion thread, please check here to find the appropriate thread.

That is what they told me...

I think they notify via snail mail...

Yes they do notify via snail mail, but they do call some people each time. Last year they called a few of us in my group and mailed others, so you never know.

What do you guys mean "interview decisions are going to be made in mid October"? Haven't they already interviewed and accepted some people already? Are you referring to the next batch of interviews?

Acceptance decisions will be made mid October for those who have already interviewed. I don't know about the non-SDN world but I don't believe anyone on here has posted an acceptance for CCOM yet.

When I interviewed there, they said they would notify us in mid-late October.

Ditto...and megboo, zipmedic, and myself were there the first day of interviews. No one has been notified as of yet. The waiting game continues. tick-tock.

I was on the third day.

Good Luck to you ALL!

anyone know the general time frame b/w between being complete and getting an invite?

Was just joking. The hospital isn't that bad, it is just in a shady neighborhood. Other than that everyone is cool at the hospital. I think most of the docs in the ER are DO.

There -should- be a scary face next to St. Bernard's. We call it "The barnyard" for a reason. :scared: It is all D.O., and it's the nurses -- not the physicians or students -- that worry us. From a medical student's perspective, especially those interested in EM, it's a great rotation. They see a TON of trauma and interesting medical cases.

😆 I was trying to not go there. You never know who's reading these post. I really want CCOM to call me in and the last thing I want to do is to insult an affiliation.

I was going to use "The Barnyard" nickname but unlike you I was too chickenbleep to say it.

Good Stuff

I interview Oct. 8th, and i was notified via regular mail. hmm...i wonder if i'll find out at the end of october too or if i'll have to wait until late november?? ugh, i cant wait to find out from everywhere!!

Hey! I'm interviewing on Oct 8th too! I'll see u there!

CCOM was 3 on 1, but one was a student. They are all really nice.

anyone hear anything lately??

I'll take anything CCOM throws my way!

Anyone know when the adcom meets yet?

Can you tell I'm still neurotic about CCOM? 😱

I vaguely remember them saying tuesday of this week...but by no means quote me on that.

They told us at the interview that it would be at the end of the month and that we could expect a letter the first or second week of November.. Just what we were told

When I interviewed at CCOM on the 9th of October, they told us that we will hear back by the end of October the latest. They said that they were meeting this week for decisions. I also asked Mike if we could call and ask. He said they weren't sure if that would be allowed, but trying wouldn't hurt. So, I am going to call them this week on the Wednesday or Thursday to ask. GOOD LUCK to you all.
