Hi All!
I am fortunate enough to have two awesome acceptances and am having a really hard time choosing between KCU-KC and CCOM and would like some opinions before the deposit deadline. I had a great interview day experience at both and both are well established, have great board and residency placements.

KCU-KC
Pros:

Cheaper by about ~25k per year
New and renovated buildings
liked KC as a whole
Score 1
Cons:
Far from home ~8hrs
Campus not in a great area
Unsure how the move to P/F will affect match
3rd year rotations could be in small town or far away

CCOM
Pros

Great clinical sites and rotations in Chicagoland
close to home
not changing to P/F
campus is pretty and safe
DG is a cute town
Cons:
Cost!!! living expenses
Not as urban as an environment for first two years

Just wanted to address some of the KCU cons.

While it's not in the best area, I wouldn't call KCU unsafe. There's security posted in all the parking areas and around campus and you can call them whenever to escort you back to your car if you so wanted. I personally have not felt unsafe being on campus late at night. But perhaps others feel differently.

Also KCU has moved to P/F/H. So if you're in the top 10% of a block you get honors. And I believe most people end up rotating in KC but not too sure.

I think both schools have the potential to get you where you want. I think the main things you need to consider is cost (25k/year ain't nothing), closeness to home and being in chicago vs KC.

I appear to be in the minority, but I voted CCOM. To be able to stay in a location close to your family and still attend an excellent school is more than worth half a year of salary.
