CCS- Help! How do you discharge a pt with home meds

Hey guys,
Can you help me out here? I've done the CCS practice cases but I haven't been able to figure out how to send a pt home with a prescription. Do you need to d/c the ER meds first?

I'm wondering the same thing. I tried it with albuterol and it keeps asking me to reevaluate case. This was done in the final 2 minute screen too!😕

If you are that deep into the case, you have MISSED the case entirely.

CCS cases end when you have the right diagnosis, the right location, and the right treatment. You do not have to do social work, discharge, case management, followups. That is not how they are designed.

What they want you do to is say "abdominal pain...it is appendicitis...transfer to hospital...get ct scan...perform ex lap" case ends.

If you are considering followup, discharge instructions, or are managing the patient beyond a week, you have missed the point of the case and you need to reevaluate.

I did this on one of Uworld cases. I kept bringing her back to see if someting would happen. I was wrong. I had just missed the diagnosis entirely.

On Step 3, ALL of my cases ended in 5 minutes. If that happens, you have either successfully treated them or they have died. Mine didn't die.

I had a run in with a CSS case. I consulted surgery, they said medical management. I got a CT scan, confirmed my diagnosis, and reconsulted surgery. They said medical management. I typed in to the orders box "some one better ****ing take this guy to surgery or I am going to sue this hospital, the surgeons, this emergency department and all the dumb ****ers who are working here!"

It did not understand what I wanted.

I typed in "exploratory laporotomy" and the case ended. Like, I was supposed to do it. That was silly, but illustrates the finnicky-ness of the software, and illustrates how important it is to do those practice cases.

say you have one of the outpatient ones - uncomplicated UTI needs course of antibiotics, do you just order "continuous" PO ABx and it will do it for the right amount of time? it seems odd to me that you can't write it like a prescription (number per day or number of days)
i guess when discharging someone form the hospital with continued abx it would be the same.... "continuous po abx".
is that right?

ps i hate this stupid CCS game!

yea, as far as I can tell we are not responsible for the duration/dose of tx. Just choose the right antibiotic and the program will fill in the duration I think.

The hardest part for me is playing with the clock and moving people around....
