I took step 3 recently and had 12/13 cases end early. I think I had the correct management for each case, but once I got the 2 minute warning, I forgot to hit the "end case" button on a couple of cases because I was super preoccupied about arranging outpatient management and followup and never got the final diagnosis screen. Has this happened to anyone else? Is anyone aware of the potential implications of this?

Need help ... Ccs I am treating a patient for x disease the patient is in the hospital I am doing this and that the patient has Iv fluids Iv antibiotics he is doing better . Patients feels better ... Case ends ... What do I do with the Iv antibiotics the oxygen the saline ... Do I cancel it and counsel patient or do I leave it as it is and counsel advice blah blah blah exit and diagnosis 🙁

For the CCS cases, the case ending after the patient clinically improves is always a good sign. While officially discontinuing inpatient orders may give you brownie points on the exam, the most important final steps of the case are counseling and entering the diagnosis. The CCS portion of the exam is a little strange since as a computer simulation, it can only go so far in re-creating an actual patient encounter. However, if you recognize the situation, act appropriately, and the patient improves before the case ends, then you have done what the case expects you to do. Good luck, and I hope this helps!
