Hey guys I posted about a month or so ago about how I was about to start my first crown which will be milled from cerec. I’m supposed to start it next week but am a little bit worried about something. The tooth in it’s current state has a composite core and has been taken out of occlusion to prevent a fracture that could happen during phase 1 before the crown is delivered. The crown is a long term provisional. We still have to do crown lengthening on the tooth but the patient is missing his contralateral first molar and wants at least some chewing function in the mean time. My concern is from what I remember in sim lab we do a pre scan of the tooth before doing the crown prep to have a template for the machine to mill. Since the tooth is out of occlusion scanning that will just give me a pretty useless crown. I have the casts from before I cored that tooth so maybe I could scan those? This honestly might be a stupid question but I want to be prepared.
