I've been fortunate to be admitted to medical school, and 2 weeks ago I submitted my background check materials. The website stated that the check usually takes 3-5 business days, and it's now been 12 business days. Is this normal? How long have other people's background checks taken?

Mine took nearly 3 weeks because I have lived in so many different states at different addresses. They have to contact the courts, etc, in those states to make sure you don't have any convictions on file. The more places you've lived and the further those places are, the longer it will take. No need to worry.

Thanks so much for the reassurance! I've lived in 6 states so this must be it!

Totally normal, depending on the counties where you have lived. You can call Certiphi and ask about the status of your report; when I called them, they said my local court system hadn't sent in the forms yet and gave me an ETA for when the county said the forms would arrive (a date 3 weeks after my submission). All you can do is wait.
