I'm wandering far outside the borders of my specialty here, but was wondering if any of you plastics guys had experience with cervicofacial liposuction in fat-necked OSA type patients, or in improving tracheostomy function in such patients.

Did a pubmed search and found one paper on lipectomy in BMI > 55 patients and it wasn't encouraging.

For a functional improvement in these people you're going to need to do a formal cervicoplasty rather then hope you get skin reatrction after lipo.

I actually did this operation about 2 weeks ago for a H&N cancer patient who'd had neck radiation and issues about skin/jowls causing issues with the tracheostomy. I did a z-shaped skin excision in the midline and teed it off in the submental crease. Works Brilliantly for the trach issue.
