Extracurriculars:

  • ~250 hours volunteering in the ER, OR, and General Radiology
  • ~100 hours shadowing several primary care physicians
  • ~50 hours tutoring underprivileged children
  • Sergeant at Arms, Risk Management Chair, and Scholarship Chair of fraternity
  • Headed several service projects for fraternity
  • Student government research cabinet
  • One semester of stem cell research (no publications)
  • Ran my family business this past year while my father was away
  • Ran 5ks for charity, DJ, and surf (not sure if these are important, but some say to include your hobbies)
BCPM Trend (because it is kind of low):

  • Freshmen: 3.91
  • Sophomore: 2.93 (no excuse, just irresponsible)
  • Junior: 3.70
  • Senior: 3.67
MCAT Breakdown: P:12, B:11, V:9

Schools I'm Considering:

  • All Florida schools (including DO)
  • Hofstra
  • Boston
  • Georgetown
  • Rosalind Franklin
  • Creighton
  • Albany
  • OHSU
  • Jefferson
  • U of Vermont
  • MC of Wisconsin
  • Loma Linda
  • Loyola
  • Temple
  • GWU
  • Tulane
  • NYMC
  • Drexel
  • Virgina Commonwealth
I will narrow that list a bit hopefully with all your help. What do you guys think my chances are at an acceptance based off my stats at those schools and particularly the Florida schools? And are there any other schools you guys would add? Thanks in advance!

Your GPAs are on the low side for UF, UM and USF. You have a decent chance for FSU, FAU, UCF, FIU. You are ok for NOVA and LECOM. I would take off BOSTON from that list since they not OOS friendly.

Eastern Virginia maybe? Over BU for sure.
I got an interview at USF with your stats and I'm OOS there, so you're in their possible range. I'd stick with it.
Jefferson, BU, GW, GU, Albany, NYMC and Temple all get a ton of applicants, maybe other schools with similar score ranges that don't get as much play, since you'd be a crapshoot at them anyway, if you were looking to narrow.

Ok I'll take Boston off and add EVMS. I think I'm going to keep the other schools though. I know they get a lot of applications, but they are all within my stat range. Are there any other schools that don't receive a huge number of applications and are within my stat range? Anyone else have any suggestions or ideas on my chances provided I apply June 1st and submit my secondaries fast?

Louisville, MUSC, SCarolina,
Rush, Michigan State, Oakland (new),
Commonwealth MC in Pa
