Hello guys,
So on the road map the reaction of alkene with RCOOOH and H30/H+ produce epoxide (road map 2), but chad reaction says the final product is anti addition of 2 OH groups to the alkene. Anyone know which one is the correct one here?
Thank you.

They're both adding coooh and then an acid, yielding the anti OH. Check the step right next to the coooh on road map 2!

I realized that just now, but does the reaction need to be in acidic solution to produce the epoxide? Chads just use RCOOOH alone, on the other hands, Road map need the H+ as well.

Chads also has an H+ based on the outline that I have. The COOOH is what produces the epoxide, then the H+ is just adding that additional OH group. Not sure what would happen to it if it were basic, but I wanna say the same thing maybe
