Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of pre-writing secondaries. In the challenge/adversity essays I want to write about my experience as a black female in a predominately white school and town, not being comfortable in my own skin, and how I overcame those negative feelings. Is that a good topic to write about?

Thanks!

I think so! Although try not to be repetitive in your diversity essay.

This is fine

perfect topic. It works for both diversity and adversity (challenge) and can be tailored for either
Thank you for the feedback! How could I tie this topic into a diversity essay?

Hello! Do you know how many African-Americans are in medical school? Do you know the proportion of a med school class that is African-American? (Except for the HBCU it is low). Look in the mirror... you are bringing the diveristy by your presence. Write anything about being a black woman and you have got the diversity question covered.
