Hey guys,

Sorry to hit you with another one of these posts but I'm curious as to what your opinion is. So for these obstacle/challenge questions I understand that they are looking for how you've coped with a hard time and that the obstacle in itself is not what they are more interested in. That being said, I can't help but doubt whether the obstacle I've chosen is worth elaborating on.

Obstacle: So I'd consider this a commonplace obstacle but it involves being stuck on a research project for about 6 months and having to deal with a lot of feelings of frustration and self doubt.

Coping: Taking time to disengage from work and refresh my mind through activities like guitar.
Finding support from my mentor and friends who have dealt with a lot of failure and frustration.
Taking practical steps to approach the problem such as drawing from different disciplines to develop new techniques and being persistent until I finally overcame the obstacle.
Lessons learning: Not to internalize failure. It's important to take time to refresh your mind rather than having the frustration build up. It's good to have a support group. Failure isn't a bad thing.

I think the situation shows that I know how to cope with prolonged periods of failure. I guess I'm just wondering if the situation itself is too academic/uninteresting.

Thanks for your help folks!

When you finish writing the secondary I can take a look, just DM me.

Thanks for your responses! I will send you a draft, Dr. Stalker. Thanks for taking the time to read it!

Alternatively, for schools that just ask how I overcame an obstacle, I was thinking of a more acute instance where I was learning how to surf in a foreign country and I was getting hammered by the waves until my leg began to severely cramp. I first tried not to panic and took deep breaths while actively thinking about a plan to safely make it back to shore. Essentially, I just learned how to not immediately panic in a dangerous situation, but rather calmly think my way through it.

What are your thoughts on using this for those short (200 word) obstacle secondaries?
