Johns Hopkins... For some reason, this school is so different for getting in and staying in with a good grade. My best friend's sister was an all A student with everything needed that went to one of the best highschools in California and over 2100 on the SAT. She got in Johns Hopkins, her dreams were to become a doctor, but after she got in and after the first, second year,, her grades will just not make her capable of becoming a doctor... Johns Hopkins, getting accepted and staying in with a good grade is a different thing.

But sounds like your a smart kid. Try it, you'll have a chance getting accepted.

i think it's because it's based on independence...students are competitive...and have no regard for others...

but i think the only thing bringing me down is my SAT, correct?

I'm a Hopkins alum, and just had to say that it's not true that we "have no regards to others". I had great friends from study groups, and fantastic experiences working with classmates in labs. Sure, there will be a few people who are a little anti-social, but that will be true of any place. You can definitely find your niche and have a great time. The student body that is the "pre-med" section may be larger and more focused than you might find at other schools since we are known for having a great pre-med program and attract a lot of stellar applicants with medical interests, which some people might find intimidating. And it's true that the workload is vastly different than highschool, but that's why first semester is mandatory pass/fail to give you time to readjust how you study.

Best of luck OP! Hopkins was a great experience for me. And now that I'm in med school, I really do appreciate how well they prepared me for the start of my basic science med school classes (I was a bio major). And they did a fantastic job helping me through the application process.

You rank will get you in. Bring up that SAT I score. Other than that I guess you are in good shape.

Your rank and everything is great! but for John Hopkins i hope those SAT scores go up, which an 1890 on your first time...hopefully you should be around the 2000-2100+ scale on your retake. Im assuming you took the SATs last may or june. Your ECs seem good, just try to get some last minute stuff done that you might be interested in.

Might i suggest applying to dartmouth as well? they love rank 1 and 2's.
