Hello everyone.

I'm currently a junior and I'm thinking of applying at the beginning of June.
I have a 3.8 gpa, 24 on my dat, but hardly any volunteer or shadowing hours.

I've started volunteering around end of my sophomore year, and so I only have about 100 hours of volunteer and 100 hours of shadowing work. I have no other extra curriculum, and no research.

I'm wondering should I even bother applying?

Im sorry but your chance is very low. You should consider pharmacy instead or getting a master. Some dental schools won't even look at your app. if you have 24 DAT.

lmao 👍

Dreamingdentist don't listen to the other posters! They're just downers on anyone who's scores aren't perfect. This is your dream and you need to follow it through. Don't give up even though it seems hopeless. Even if you don't get accepted the first time you apply, you can retake the DAT and if you get at least a 28 the second time around there's still a chance some schools may look at your app!

I think you need to increase that gpa, a 3.8 isnt competitive anymore, do you think this 1991? try to aim for a 4.1 or above, both science and overall. only a 100 hours of shadowing? most school require a 1,000 hours of shadowing.

One thing we all forgot, the trick to landing that interview is the Nobel Prize. After the interview though, good luck

Save yourself the AADSAS fee and apply straight to Western's podiatry program.

LMBO!!! **Dead** (at all the previous post!)

Hey pal, these guys are just joking with you, don't pay attention (but I'm diene 😉 over here) lol! Seriously, you seemingly have great stats and if you apply early, your chances will be in your favor. I had an 18/18/21 and got into 2 schools on my first cycle with a 3.5 applying in Sept! If Jesus can do it for me, He can do it for you 2! 😛 Just make sure you look up the particulars for each school to see which will give you the best chance of getting into their program. There are a million post like this, so excuse the behavior lol, Good Luck!

He's obviously not being for real. Nobody with a 3.8 GPA and 24 DAT wonders "Is this good enough to get me into dental school?" Clearly someone with that much prep already knows what he's getting himself into, and has researched it. My bet is that "dreamingdentist" doesn't have any volunteer hours, service experience, etc., NOR has he taken the DAT. He's just trying to figure out how little effort he can put into everything else.

BTW, "Seriose Kitn" is awesome! Thank you for that!

I would have thought it would be a combination of hard work and admission committee member decisions rather than Jesus that did it for you.

LOL

I can't believe they referred students to their podiatry program. I mean seriously???😕

On a side note, I recently got my rejection from an October interview with no referral. I guess they really don't like me x_x

I got that recruitment letter =[ If I didn't get in this cycle I would have been absolutely destroyed lol

If the snake smells like Salmo salar, consume it feet first.

You are the snake.

Hi, my name is [Fill in any gorgeous person's name], I have a near perfect face and a body that places somewhere within the 90th percentile.....will anyone find me attractive?

HAH! Keep dreaming, dreamingdentist. I'm not sure how you're going to explain that 3.8 if they even grant you an interview. However, you might qualify for some hygiene program.

Um...I think we scared him away.

You are in dental school application hell holding the hand of death. You have no chance of getting in. Fast food chains are always hiring.

you should post in the "under 3.9 club", search for the thread of here they have a lot of success stories. bets of luck applying 🙂

Listen here man, most dental schools have a weed out process in which they throw out your application unless you can solve the world's energy and food crises simultaneously by engineering a wheat genome that will allow the plant to survive drought while expelling bio-diesel.

The other choice is harnessing the power of dark matter...you know, like in "angles and demons"

better apply to all 173 dental schools!!!!

Is it bad that I read every non serious post in here and skipped over the serious one?

Does Grammy count? I am thinking about getting one because I had 3.9 and 28.5 DAT (30 on PAT, 30 on Bio, 30 on RC. Chem pulled me back) but didn't get in last cycle. I called the schools and they said that my application wasn't "unique" enough. I think getting a Grammy would make a different but Nobel sounds better. Does anyone have any input on this? I really appreciate it.

hmmm, well you're on the right track..but I think at the very least you should go to your interview dressed as Lady Gaga

hahaha this thread makes me laugh. poor guy thought he was able to salvage his horrible predicament but now he knows hope is bleak...

4.0 or bust !

It's too late to get a Grammy for this app cycle. But the Oscars are coming up!

Perhaps there was a man named 'Jesus' on the adcom...
