recently I have been bummed about my overall college performance. I know I still need to take the MCAT. I realized that that my sgpa at most will be a 3.5, my cgpa a tad bit better, and the rest of my app is mundane.

so I have been browsing sdn + mdapplicant and I feel like I have no chance of getting into medical school. people with outstanding scores are getting rejected from almost every school they apply to.

I even looked into DO schools and the average stats to get into them is ~3.65 and a ~30

should I give up on MD schools?

The MCAT can set you free. Study hard and do your very best; except at extreme ends of the spectrum, your score is dependent on how hard and efficient you work. You GPA isn't great, but it's not a deal breaker. Don't judge anything based on SDN and MDApplicants. The people most likely to spout stats on either are not representative.

I agree with pons. I had a similar situation where I felt completely discouraged just before applying. You have some things you can do in the future...add ecs, kill the mcat, apply the first day (this is huge and helps your chances tremendously) and craft a really good application that is cohesive and focused. Apply broadly but don't shot gun schools, really research and find good fits (this means mission statements, curriculum, stats, etc). Adcoms can tell from your secondary if you really want to go there.

Also shadow!! I feel this provides applicants not only with a resume boaster, but with worthwhile experience which will help on secondary essays, interviews, and beyond.

Good luck!
