DAT is muy importante por Columbia. 22 or higher is best, but a few have been accepted with less...

columbia prefers high dat scores to high gpa, but i think you'e fine...20+ should be solid enough.
but you should go check it out...columbia was my first choice before applying, cuz i liked name, and nyc seemed very appealing, but after going there, i did not like it at all. wasn't impress by it at all. you'll see for yourself i'm sure.
btw, i don't mean to put down the school, rather i'm suggesting that you go check it out yourself.

average, the interview is pretty important at Columbia too

Hey, I hate to disagree, but this year the average AA is almost 23. The only way you would get an interview is to have a gpa of 3.9+ so that it could compensate for 20.
Being really honest here, I don't think you have much of a change. Btw, I am going to Columbia next year, I'm very familiar with their system. In addition, the GPA of the incoming class is next year at this point is in the low 3.6 range.
So an average student has 3.6gpa and AA of 23. You have to rewrite the DAT if you want Columbia, but you are above average for other dental schools.

Yeah I was the same way. Which is a good point you bring up...make sure you set aside your previous ideas about a school before you get there. It makes for a better evaluation of the place.
It'll pain you when you have to say no to a place that you wanted for so long, after realizing it just isn't as good as you had concieved it to be.
Good luck though!!! It's a neat place...just not a match.

well columbia also looks for well rounded applicants.they challenge you during their curriculum, so they want to know that you are able to handle classes and lots of ec's. i remember dr. mcmanus saying that they expect a lot from their students, but only bc they know they are capable. so it's not just a numbers game. you need something else to distinguish yourself from the other applicants with the same numbers
