i know its super tough to get into a texas school if you're not a texas resident, but they are quite a bit cheaper than any of my other options.... so i'm just wondering if it would even be worth applying to Baylor or San Antonio?

I have a 3.93 GPA, 22 DAT, Arizona resident.

Arizona is pretty close, not sure if they have an agreement with the neighboring states or whatever. Roughly 10% from each school are from out of state, and I'd bet "out of state" means oklahoma or new mexico or something more than new york or florida.

I personally think you have a very very small chance and itd be a waste of money, but you do have good stats so its your call on whether the application fee is worth the very unfavorable odds gamble of potentially ~150k+ worth of saved tuition.

Plus ud have to an entirely new application - TMDSAS or sometihng

Baylor is the easiest to get into, but out of 634 OOS aaplicants last year, 16 got interviews and 10 enrolled.

411 oos applied to Houston, but none were even interviewed.

278 oos applied to San Antonio, 11 interviewed, 1 accepted.

I'd say apply to Baylor and SA, don't even bother with Houston

Chances are highly unlikely to get into a Texas School unless you are a resident or a resident in a neighboring state that does not have a dental school. Also private schools have a higher acceptance rate for out of state schools.

Give it a shot, you never know. Im not a texas resident, and I wasn't going to apply to any Texas schools. I had good stats though and someone recommended that I just throw san antonio in to give it a shot (I think they have slightly better chances for OOS, though still very slim). It is a great school and great deal tuition wise, even cheaper than my state school, so I went for it. Guess which school I'm starting at this year? statistics are important when choosing schools but you could be one of those handful of people who make it if you are already a very competitive applicant.

I think you should save your money and apply elsewhere. Have you checked the 2010 dental school books and see if anyone from arizona has been accepted to the dental schools?
