I'm a DO student who took a leave of absence due to some MH issues. I did research during the year and was able to get a publication and poster and strong letters.

I'll be sitting for Step 1 and Comlex soon (I left after M2), and will hopefully score in the 230-240 range. Preclinical grades were several points above average, I was inducted into SSP (similar to AOA but at DO schools).

Is the LOA going to prevent me from being able to match into Anesthesia?

You'll be fine assuming you do well on the boards. Just be prepared to explain (in your personal statement and in person) what happened, why you're better, and how you made the best of the situation by doing research and getting published. Legitimate medical issues - assuming they are not substance abuse related - rarely railroad applications unless there are other red flags or you didn't get back on track (do poorly on boards, grades drop in ms3 rotations)
