Hey y'all,

Junior taking a gap year; white.

cGPA: 3.57
sGPA: 3.27
Moderate upward trend in both
MCAT of 505 but haven't officially taken yet/started studying. Hoping for 512.

Volunteer in clinical setting: ~150 hrs
Shadowing: ~200 hours in different specialties
Research: Will have two papers published, one presentation at conference and two posters
Other Stuff: I'm an EMT but don't have much experience yet, Maryland is my home state, and I'm involved with a lot of service on campus.

I'm looking basically anywhere but the Caribbean.

Thanks for your time!

A 505 makes you competitive for a fair number of DO schools. A 512 + acing a post-bacc/SMP makes you competitive for some MD.
How big of a trend? Any compelling reason for the upswing? Do you have any non clinical volunteering?

Sorry for the late response- I had lyme's disease Freshman year, resulting in a 2.9, but besides that it's been a moderate improvement.
I'm a leader for volunteer service trips focusing on nutrition and obesity year-round. I also am pretty sure next year I'm going to be on the health advisory board for my school.
