Hello all,
I just got my MCAT score back; 32L (11 PS, 10 VR, 11 BS). The first time I took it I had gotten a 23K so I know that I'm definitely at a better postion now with the score improvement (essay score not so much but not really concerned there). I graduated this May with a cGPA of 3.84 and I have two years of research experience. I've also received a research grant and presented a poster/wrote a paper. I've tutored organic chemistry, physiology, and genetics. I have done roughly 40 hours of shadowing both a D.O. and M.D.
However, I'm wondering if it may be too late for me to apply this cycle...
I'm also weak on my extracirriculars/volunteering and I still need to obtian a letter of recommendation from a physician. I completed a phlebotomy course but I've yet to pursuit a phlebotomy job or get any hands-on clinical experience.
If I applied next year I could improve upon my weak areas, but it would also give me a total of two years off which is quite a bit of time. I've yet to complete my primary application (still need to write my personal statement) because I've been leaning toward applying next year. But with my MCAT score improvement, I'm now thinking of applying this cycle.
What are my chances (and possible school matches; both M.D. and D.O.) for this cycle? Would I be better off applying this year or next year?
