Hi, I have a brother who used to have an account on this site and got banned for some reason. He is a biology major with a 3.86 CGPA and 3.85 SGPA. He graduated on January 2012. He took the DAT twice and he scored 17 AA, 17 TS, 16 PAT on the first time and 15 AA, 15 TS, 14 PAT on the second time because he got so feverish on the day of the exam that he couldn't focus at all. Now he is wondering if his scores are good enough or should he take it the DAT again. however, some friends are telling him to take the MCAT instead and score 20+ and he should be fine. thus, in case he takes the MCAT and do fine, does he have to tell the schools about the DAT scores or he can just use the MCAT only. He also needs to know about the extracurricular activities required for podiatry besides shadowing a podiatrist. all the responses and advises are well appreciated

Only two schools currently take the DAT, NYCPM and Temple. So unless your brother wants to attend one of those schools he would need to take the MCAT. With his high GPA/SGPA he would probably realistically only need to score a 19+ to be safe for schools as long as he applies early this cycle.

he is planning to take the MCAT in January so is that late

Yes, but do you think he can get accepted with his current DAT scores especially that his scores on the second time were less than the first time

Just to be safe, I'd say take the MCAT and apply with that score.

Only one way to find out.....APPLY!!

What is the average MCAT score needed to get accepted into a podiatry school, the reason I am asking this question is that I see people in this fourm getting accepted with both low and high MCAT scores; otherwords, there is a high variability in the MCAT scores for the accepted applicants
