Hello all,
I am currently during my prelimnary surgery PGY1.
I am very much interested in anesthesiology and would like to know my chances in this field.
Kindly give some info about the competitiveness of the program....

It's difficult to gauge but the current trends show that it's becoming a more attractive specialty. All we can do here is speculate but I think you'd be well served by just, like everyone has done, getting your application ready and applying.

It's just like playing craps. If you wanna win, you gotta put your chips on the table and let the dice roll!

many of us on here are MSIVs like myself, who matched this year.

Gamara-i'd say you are doing the wisest thing ever. plus, i think as a PGY1 you have an edge over others since you can tk advantage of 'out of the match' spots.
