Hi,

My GPA is 3.794. I am not sure what my science GPA because I haven't calculated it, but I think it has to be the same or ever better.

DAT- TS 24, AA 23, PAT-21

100 hours of shadowing, like 200 hours volunteering,

Research for one of the dental professors for a semester.

My first choice is UNC dental school and I go to UNC for undergrad and am an in state resident. I feel like I should be a shoe in but you never know. Should I apply to more than 5 or 6 schools?

Thanks!

Cant answer for sure until you provide a few more digits of the Undergrad GPA for clarification... 5 to 6 places should be enough

oh sorry! 3.794318182. I would provide more but my calculator only goes 10 digits.

With a GPA and DAT score that low, no chance you get in.

I recommend a health science related post-bacc in order to raise your GPA and definitely schedule a retake. In addition, applying the FIRST DAY of next cycle is key, good luck.

I don't mind seeing "What are my chances?" threads until ones like these come in.

These are some nice stats! Congratulations.

It might be fun to apply to a couple schools just to keep your options open. It could be interesting to see what else is out there.

Of course the expense of applying to more schools is not as fun ..

Anyway GL in the application process.

Haha. And one day someone is not going to realize the sarcasm and actually retake.

With such low grades I'm afraid you're going to have to look into a more appropriate line of work.

Lucky for you my local elementary school is looking for a noon duty.

All I have to say is...WOW..

you really must need assurance...

Your application would scream "Avoid like the plague"

Ah the ever-fun troll....

I'm sorry everyone. Like I said, I know I have good stats, but I guess I should rephrase the question. If I get an interview at schools, but it doesn't goes perfectly, will my stats still overpower a weak interview? And as a side question, should I apply to tougher schools to get into? Like are certain schools better than others? I know most ppl say it doesnt matter what school you go to, but if I can get in at most schools, what schools should i apply to?

2. Should I apply to tougher schools to get into?

3. Are certain schools better than others? I know most ppl say it doesnt matter what school you go to, but if I can get in at most schools, what schools should i apply to?

1. Depends on how bad your interview goes. You entry depends on your score AND your interview. Just because you did well on a test doesn't mean that anyone is going to want to spend the next 4 years with you.

2. No. You should go the school you want to go to (the cheapest option is usually a good starting point).

3. Do some research into how many out of state students the schools you're interested in take. Research the cities, and how you'd like them. Research the average DAT scores and stats for those who got in before you.

Don't plant the seed of uncertainty in your brain. If you think you will have a bad interview, chances are you will have a bad interview. Forgive me if this is wrong, but you seem to be an insecure person. You need to be confident when going into an interview. Don't be scared because adcoms will see that and don't be over-confident either. The best advice I can give is act like you've been there before. Prepare, relax, smile and you will convince someone out there that you deserve to go to their school.

It is always a tough battle when pitting egos the size of Jupiter against the size of Saturn.
