Just took the DAT.
Bio:20
GC:19
OC:26
QR:18
RC:20
PAT:24
AA:21

Overall GPA is a 3.34.
I took the DAT last year and got a 17 and applied. Chances this year with improved score ?

do you have more chances of getting in at your instate school than out of state kids? why?
Yes you do. Residents of a state are taxed by that state (and the municipalities within that state). Public colleges and universities receive state funding from those tax dollars so they accept students at a much higher rate who's parents help, in part, to fund the institution. This also explains why instate tuition is cheaper. Private universities do not receive state funding and therefore give neither preference nor discount to in state applicants.

Your GPA is a little low but DAT matters the most. If you are competitive enough, extracurriculars and volunteering, you can get in. But, it's hard to know for sure. Also, applying to the right school is key. Like the above people said, instate schools is the way to go. But I would apply to at least 10-15 schools to be safe.

I know a guy who is matriculating this year..19 AA 18 TS (16 GC) average GPA (2 acceptances-USC &VCU)....another...18 AA relatively high GPA (accepted to Louisville)....Id say that 21AA of yours more than compensates for your barely below average GPA, unless you are extremely socially awkward with barely any EC's you should be good to go. like someone else said, apply liberally and relax

edit: those are acceptances to out of state schools
