Hi, I'm actually new to using the SDN forum but I was wondering if you guys could help me out in assessing my chances of getting admitted into at least a mid-tier medical school this year.
Major: Public Health
Overall GPA: 3.8
BCPM GPA: 3.78
However, I have one C in the first half of organic chemistry which I took my freshman year but was able to pull an A- in the lab and A in the second half of organic chemistry during my sophomore year.
I just took my MCATs and I received a score of 34S (10V, 11PS, 13BS)

Some of my ECs include:
-1 year of research at a Children's Hospital
-1 summer of clinical research
-Started doing research for the trauma department at a county hospital last fall - possible publication in the summer
-Worked abroad in Africa one month doing health-related volunteer work
-Worked abroad for a paramedic company in Costa Rica for a few weeks
-Health Educator for 1 Semester for American Lung Association
-Established an organization at our university with a group of students - mainly for children with family members with cancer
-2 Semesters as an undergraduate student instructor for general biology labs
-2 years teaching for a children's program, working on my 3rd year now

Graduated Cum Laude, Member of Phi Beta Kappa

If any of you could help me out in evaluating my chances I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

You'll do fine, but maybe try to add some shadowing to your ECs

don't worry about the C. You are allowed to have a few oops (I have more than a few myself). No one expects you to be a robot, and the fact that you got an A the next semester shows you have mastered the material. Congrats on your great MCAT score, as well. Your ECs seem very diverse and interesting. You look like you are in good shape. The only pieces of advice I can give you are 1) maybe add a few hours of shadowing 2) don't hang around this website too much. It will make you insecure & neurotic for no good reason. Use this site to learn as much info as you need now, and then come back right before you apply. I swear it can make you crazy! Good luck :luck:

Hi JKDOC, and welcome to SDN 🙂 We actually have a whole sub-forum specifically devoted to discussing "What are my chances?" questions. I think you'll probably get a better response in that forum, so I'm moving you over there 🙂
