I'm sorry but you have "0" chance at UWO and very slim chance at U of T.

Your chance at UWO is 0 because your RC score is lower than their minimum requirement of 18.

Your chacne at U of T is very slim because they only use your AA and PAT scores, and your PAT score is just too low.

^ Agreed. It's probably best if you stick with optometry. Good luck with the OAT.

thanks so much for the honest feedback!!! tho it's quite a heart-breaking answer for me.
I was actually quite optimistic about my chances for U of T, cause they take 60% on GPA and 10% on DAT score. isn't my undergraduate GPA(3 years , 15 credits) competitive enough to cover my DAT score?

I already got accepted by New England College of Optometry and State university of New York for Optometry. I chose optometry in the first place cause I got to realize it's a easier profession for girls to find the work-life balance .
But considering the hard work I inversted in my undergraduate study and my GPA, I really want to prove something, for example, I can do something harder than optometry, which has only 3.3 cut off. and that's why I wrote my DAT after OAT and applied to dental school. plus, with the same tuition fee, dentists make more money than optometriest in the future........shall I re-write my DAT, wait for another year and apply to U of T dental school again?

thanks so much for those who helped and would love to answer my question!!!! i'm stuck in the fork now.........😱

Don't go into dentistry cause you feel like you have something to "prove". Go into it because it's something you genuinely like, it's something you wake up and you are happy to go to every day.

If dentistry isnt your first choice dont do it. Also if I was you I would retake the DAT. You have a good AA so im assuming that youll do fine ont hat. You need to get your PAT/RCscore up though if you want a shot at dentistry. Also what is your OC score

@ MechZZ: sounds like you are enjoying your life as a dental student? honestly, my reason of applying dental school is first: I worked hard to maintain a 3.92 GPA for the past three years and I don't want to waste my hard work secondly optometry is a profession I think I will like but it is not as profitable as dentistry, and salary can make a big difference in the future when i start to lose passion about doing the same thing day by day. All professions may become monotonous and repetitive if you keep doing it for years, and later in life, salary may be one big factor of the profession satisfaction......

@impulse 155: I wrote my candadian DAT cause I was applying to Canadian Dental school. and there is no OC section🙁 but thanks for replying!!!!

Do the DAT again and you will get into UofT, Western with no problem. 3.92 is a great GPA and shows you have worked hard.

Why aren't you applying to McGill?? I heard they are not even looking at DAT anymore and it is all about your GPA.

You're right. You have a good chance at U of T if you had 20+ PAT... but your PAT is 17. If you're a grad student, it is completely different story becuase U of T just loves grad student and there are some people get in with 18 AA and 18-20 PAT.

Like you said, with 3.92 GPA, you wouldn't have any problem getting into any helath field (medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and optometry). The only downside is your RC and PAT scores and I'm sure you'll ace that DAT if you decided to take it again and study more wisely.

Next time, apply to McGill, UBC, Sask and Manitoba as well (if you are good at carving) becuase your GPA is very strong and even if you're an out of province applicant, you'll have a great shot if you ace your DAT.

Also, apply to US dental schools to maximize your chance.

Anyways, good luck!👍

I was shocked to find that on their website. I hear McGill doesn't take very many out of province students though.

I heard 10 spots are reserved for OOP and international students out of 30 class size

so I got the invitation to U of T DDS program today

do you know the percentage of getting in after the interview round?

thanks for letting me know

Thanks for those who replied me🙂

now I need to prepare for my interview part

any of you heard of the U of T intercview prep course?
http://www.eliteinterview.com/gpage.html

I'm a fitness instructor and have been TAing for 2 years. I'm a 'people person' and I love socializing and talking to people. do you think my personality would be enough for the interview?

I had 3 interviews for optometry school, and all of them went pretty well--already got accepted by those optometry school. I know the questions in interview would differ a little bit, but is there a necessity to take this course for interivew?

thanks for your suggestions!!
