Hey Everyone
So I took my DAT recently and I want to know my chances....I'm a michigan resident and hoping to get into Detroit Mercy....

Here are my scores:

PAT 16
QR 15
Reading 20
Biology 19
Chem 19
Organic Chem 19
Total Science- 19

AA- 18

please tell me my chances....if any 🙁

If I retake it'll have to be in October so I don't think I would be able to apply this cycle. My GPA is 3.91...I have shadowing and volunteer hours. I also did a volunteer abroad program

Will anywhere accept my PAT score? Should I retake??

UDM has some high expectations. Your scores are not bad at all, but for UDM you probably would need a 20 AA. Although it's a one point difference, it will be a hugeeeee difference and plus the PAT 16 is not soo good.

since UDM is not a state school, you might have a better chance at U of Mich.

What undergrad school are you at?


oh you should just apply now, even if you retake it in October, there is no need to wait until you get your new DAT score. Just click on the checkbox where it says you will be retaking.

Do you mind suggesting other schools where I may have a chance if I apply??

I checked pre dents but it seems that my PAT score wont make it in a lot of schools....

for other states, I recommend most of the private schools. go on predents and then go to different schools websites.

Pick about 20 schools you want to check out, and then narrow the list down. Make sure you have all of the pre-reqs for specific schools, since these days some schools require biochem, microbio, psychology, etc.

I think the best thing to do is to retake the dat though, you already took it once and did pretty good on it, so why not try one more and ace it!

If you can bring up your scores by a point or two, your application cycle will go whole lot easier... then you don't have to search for schools that accepts 16 PAT score.

I recently read that U of Michigan requires at least 19 or 20 on EVERY section of the DAT for the applicant to be competitive but who knows --it doesn't mean that you have no chance at all there.😀

no not really, that's just the general trend. There are always few people with lower avg. that will get in. My friend from work got into UDM with fairly low stats, but again, that's very rare.
