Hey guys! I would like to post some of my stats and schools I am interested in applying to and I was wondering if you could tell me what you think my chances are, and what else should I do before applying.
Age: 20, race: white, residency: NY
oGPA: 3.54 (should get close to 3.6 by next semester)
sGPA: 3.39 (should get up to 3.45 by next semester)
BCP GPA: 3.21 (should get up to 3.3 by next semester)
GPAs went from 3.4, 3.5 to 3.75, I'm 95% positive I will get 3.8+ next semester, which would increase all my other GPAs.

Shadowing: 130 hours
Community Service: 150 hours
Research: at nursing home with chair of my school's dental school, might get published this spring
Jobs: tutored in calc 1 2 and 3 and physiology
Leadership: have been treasurer, VP twice and P once, made MANY changes in groups and learnt a LOT
Affiliations: very active in service and leadership fraternity, member of other groups
Other skills: CPR AED and first aid certified, fluent in 4 languages

LoR: i should get a pre-health committee one by may, 1) my ethics professor loves me and knows me very well 2) my community service fraternity regional chair knows me very well 3) tutoring boss 4) orgo professor 5) pre-health advisor 6) dental school professor i did research with 7) dentist that knows me well

Personal statement: i have had many challenges so far, wars, financial problems, don't know anything about parents (whether they are dead or alive), had to figure everything out by myself and get loans, became fully independent by 19, it will be very personal and honest

DAT: i started studying now to take it mid/end June, let's say I get 20/21

So what do you think? any advise?

Your DAT score could make it so you get into almost all or none of those schools, but assuming you get a 20-21, your rough chances at interviews may be....

UB: Decent
Stony Brook: Slightly decent
LSU: Okay
UNC: Low
Howard: Likely, if you're black
WVU: No idea
Michigan: Okay
Uconn: Low

UNC and Uconn aren't very OOS-unfriendly, but you definitely need high stats to get an interview (I hadn't heard back from either with a 3.9 and 20 AA). UB is probably your best shot, aside from Howard (unless you are white).

Also, please assume that those estimates are 0% correct.

Your ECs and GPAs should be ok. But it really all depends on your DAT....

If you get an 18, you will be lucky to be accepted to 1-2. If you get a 21, you will probably have your pick of schools.

Good luck!

Do average to above average on the DAT and you will be a very competitive applicant. Upward trend+ solid DAT+ very interesting ECs = great chance IMO.

A lot of "what if's" in your post there…you say for us to assume you hit a 21 on DAT, and you assume you will get a 3.8+ next semester. It really isn't fair to make these "chance me" threads unless you have actually finalized your GPA and actually taken the DAT. Until then you have a below average GPA and no DAT score…there you go.

Dont sweat yourself. With your gpa you def have the brains and work ethic to get a 20 AA at least. Good things will come your way.

thanks a lot for your comments guys!!!! i really appreciate it! Happy New Year :hardy:
