Hey everyone, I'm wondering what my chances are at Dental School. My GPA should be around a 3.0 by the end of this year, and I should be graduating this year as well. I've been researching around and because of my abysmal GPA, I don't think I have a chance at any dental school in Canada (correct me if I'm wrong..please!).

I've been looking at the University of Sydney, and their GPA minimum requirements are simply a 2.7, so that's given me a spark of hope, but I'm not sure if I'll get in there.

I'm going to be studying extremely hard for the DAT, and I hope to score really high, but being optimistic doesn't always work, so I just want to know what my chances are at getting into a Dental School. Whether it's in Canada, the US, or Australia.

Canada, no chance.
US, little to no chance.
Australia, I have no clue.

Just curious, what makes you think that failing the law route would make you a better candidate in the dental route? I know that U of Toronto law matriculant GPA is considerably lower than that of the dental matriculants. If anything, people should be resorting to law from dentistry... Not trying to criticize you or anything, but I'm just perplexed at your direction :/

This isn't real, right? Law school and dental school aren't related and you probably already knew what the answer would be prior to posting this thread. If you didn't, you can do a little research and have the answer to average GPA and DAT acceptances into select dental schools in 5 minutes or less. Here's a link you may find helpful in your quest:

Work harder in school and in areas pertinent to being a more competitive applicant for whatever school, etcetera, etcetera, you decide to pursue. No one is going to sit there and spoon-feed you information in any professional/grad school regardless the geographical location.

There is no point in asking before we know your DAT scores. You will need do do well on the DAT, but I'm sure you know that already. Good luck. 👍
