Hi all,
Current Stats:
Third yr electrical engineering student in Canada( Canadian citizen).
First year GPA: 3.34
Second year GPA: 2.9
I Can get 3.5 in my engineering courses in the last 2 years.
I Can get 3.7 in pre-med courses, if and when I take them.
I Can get 30-34 on MCATs, did a few practice ones.

My dilema is:
I should take the pre-med courses only if i have a favorable chance of getting in a med school.
These courses otherwise are no use to me.
I have some debating, some leadership some volunteering experience behind me, but I have 2 years left and I can do a lot more.

So my question for is:

Shoud I risk taking the pre-med courses( like if you guys think I have a decent chance of getting in)?

Would a US school look at the toughness of a engineering degree?

Would they look into the fact that I did OK in my first 2 years, and when I had a reason to think about med school(something happened in the summer) I started to get good grades? Like if my overall GPA is 3.3ish and my last 2 years is 3.6ish.

So for right now, with all your expert opinions, the first question is most important, should I register and start taking pre-med courses?

Thanks.

Word. The atrocity of the spelling and grammar prevent me from even wanting to jump in.

If someone's going to be a troll, they should at least ATTEMPT to make a post look legitimate, right? 😡

Sorry for that, I am at work right now, so was a little busy.
Any help will be appriciated.
Thanks

The question isn't whether you should take pre-med courses. The question isn't whether we think you have a chance at getting into medical school.

The question is................

Do you want to be physician?

Yes I wanna become a physician, never knew too much about this profession until my father got operated this summer, I volunteered in a hosppital after that and loved it.

I am asking for advice from people weather it is realistic with my grades in first 2 years.
I do not want to waste a lot of time for nothing.
Im just asking that if i have a realistic chance from ur experiences or knowlege, let me know and i'l decide if i should take the pre-med courses.
Thanks.

If you want it bad enough, you will do whatever it takes. There are people on this board who have taken the MCAT over and over and over. There are people on this board the are currently doing post-bacc work to improve their GPA, and this takes years. There are people on this board who have applied two and three times, spent thousands of dollars on the process.

There is always a way, and if you want something, then go out and do it. Ask yourself if you are willing to "waste" a year or two or five trying to improve your application, if the answer is no, the you are not cut out for this.

You won't find answers on this board, you must first find out what "you" want. To me, it doesn't sound like you know this yet. If you truly want to be a doctor, then take the classes, no matter what your previous GPA is.

yeah, im at a stage of my life where im not liking engineering too much and am a little confused.
Liked Medicine, after my experience( my dads heart surgery), and then when i volunteered at a hospital.
So i can see that people here just LOVE medicine, i dont love it yet, maybe i need more exposure, but its something that i really like and something that i think I will be happy doing for the rest of my life.
if i start taking the pre-med courses it would be a step in the opposite direction from what im doing rite now, and its a big step, thats why i was looking for some input, from some experienced people.
Thanks for ur comments.
