Hello All,
Just wondering what you thought my chances were. My MCAT is 26 (10,8,8) went up from a 23(6,7,10). cGPA= 3.61 sGPA=3.44 good LOR (5 in total, 1 MD).a lot of lab work and 3 years at school infirmary. Applied to 16 DO schools, really hoping for New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT, NYCOM-touro, or UMDNJ-SOM. Im a CT resident so def worried. I sent my application a couple of days ago but still waiting on my transcript to arrive. I think my biggest issue is the fact that i have no DO experience, but i have tried to reach out to many DOs and have heard all No's so far. :-/ Also seems like most schools are averaging 28s on their MCAT...wish i could combine the 10s from the two tests LOL. Do I stand a chance at an interview?
In any case, what do you guys think?

Personally, I think your stats and experience are fine for DO school Yeah, your MCAT is a little low for some schools, but I think you'll get interviews. I also had no DO experience when I applied.

Yeah, i wonder if some schools will look at the composite score and at least see the huge jump from 6 to a 10 in PS. I have no idea what happened in BS 10 to an 8, composite would be a 28... oh well no need to cry over spilled milk In any case, how about those schools the NY and NJ, do you think i stand a shot over there?? I would do anyyything to get in, i just want to be a doc. so bad 🙂 I would hate to have to wait another year, I'm turning 24 in october :/. Im also thinking about starting an EMT course in september, do you thik it will help??

And an EMT course could help, but being this close to getting in, hopefully, you wouldn't have that long to practice and gain experience. So, I don't know how much help it would really be.

As far as NY schools, I know they're competitive. However, I still think you'll get interviews.
