awaiting the release of my other scores from 8/17 and 9/6 which i feel will be around 30.
😕alrighty then guys, here i go.
my GPA: 2.8.
current MCAT score: 25 . awaiting the release of my other scores from 8/17 and 9/6 which i feel will be around 30.
EC: i was a RA (Resident Assistant) at my university for 4 years, developed extensive intercommunication skills and i figure this will showcase a strong leadership quality (i hope?)
I am a licensed Radiographic Technologist with additional licensing in MRI, CT and angiography. I work at 2 different level 1 trauma center hospitals in NYC, am always in the ER, OR and bedside working with patients nonstop.
I have great LOR's from nationally recognized professors, 2 LOR's from MD's who are directors of their department and sit on admissions committee at their respective med schools and a few LOR's from employers and clinical instructors.
I am starting shadow appointments with two DPM's hoping to reach at least 50hrs.
I am hoping to apply to NYCPM. what in Gods name are my chances? and am i already late with my app because i havent sent it in yet....
I don't know why you retook the 25 twice... Your MCAT score isn't what is hurting you, it's your GPA. I understand you want your MCAT score to offset your low GPA, and that might work, but only time will tell, and no one can comment on it given a speculative score you don't have yet.
Your GPA is low, but certainly not, "no one has ever gotten in with that GPA" low. If you want to get in, apply to more than just NYCPM and you'll be fine.
I also don't know why there is a huge trend lately of people trying to shadow pods for like 50+ hours. That is unnecessary and wasteful (unless you TRULY enjoy hanging out at the pod clinics and it is more enjoyable to you than socializing, watching tv, playing video games, etc.). Shadowing hours aren't like your MCAT score, the more you get the better you are. 1000 pod shadowing hours won't make up for an 15 MCAT. Do something productive instead, pleaseee.
ECs will only help you draw experiences to talk about during your interview, they won't help you get an interview.
Your MD letters of rec from famous MDs probably won't do any better than a LoR from your gen bio professor (unless they know the Deans at the schools personally, and are willing to call in favors for your acceptance, unlikely though).
No, for the 40th time. No! You are not late.
just got my 8/17 scores : 27N... (12PS, 8V, 7BS ) i knew that bio was gunna b the end of me...was averaging 11's...
reallly hoping my 9/6 ones will be greater..
nice MCAT score. i think you have a decent shot, assuming your science GPA isn't too far below a 2.8alrighty then, scores just in.
1st MCAT: 25L
2nd MCAT: 27N
3rd MCAT: 32N breakdown--> 11PS, 9VR, 12BS i finally got my revenge on bio 😀
k so now, considering the improvement in my MCAT score, and that my goal was to offset my low GPA with a good score, how much of an impact will this have? what would be my chances?
btw, my top choices are NYCPM, Temple and Chicago....
guys i need some more feedback please....and no my science gpa is also 2.8...
Out of curiosity, why did you pick Chicago? Temple and NYCPM are both east coast so it makes sense, but why Chicago?
i just wanted to pick 3 closest to NY..
Hey I was just wondering if anyone could give me feedback on my chances for the upcoming cycle.
GPA: 3.4
sGPA: 3.3
MCAT: 18
Research and plenty of shadowing, LOR's, and other extracurricular activities

I work at 2 different level 1 trauma center hospitals in NYC, am always in the ER, OR and bedside working with patients nonstop. If you're going to play this up, have some knowledge of how radiographs, MRIs and CTs actually work; not how to take them, the science behind it.

Agree with above, nationally recognized MDs won't get you any further than any normal LOR.

NY has a huge class and accepts anyone with a pulse and an MCAT over 22.
You should do fine.Hey I was just wondering if anyone could give me feedback on my chances for the upcoming cycle.

Hi everyone!
I have an overall GPA of 3.7 and a science GPA of 3.74. However, my MCAT is a 21 O. The PS killed me. I'm from California and would like to stay in California but I'm willing move if I get into a school I think would be a better fit. I've shadowed podiatrists and MDs at Kaiser.
What are my chances of getting into a podiatric medical school?
I'm going to call admissions and talk to them but I just wanted to be prepared for what they could say.
Thank you so much!
i'm a really bad multiple choice test taker. plus English is a second language
