Just got a notice on my UWorld that their OS requirements are changing in FOUR days. I have Mac OS 10.7.

I am a third yr student who uses UWorld every single day. It's not like I missed the notification. I contacted UWorld technical department over this and they simply said they can't offer any help and I won't be able to access it in 4 days.

I can't just get up and buy a new computer or update my OS. I even had to take money out of my student loans to get UWorld. I can use it on my smartphone but I like studying on my laptop more.

Wanted to ask if anyone has any alternatives regarding this issue or anyway I can continue using it on my laptop. Thanks.

I don't know anything about these operating systems, will my MacBook Air be ok?

You're using a 6 year old operating system it would cost you $20 to upgrade. Every model that's come out since late 2007 has been compatible with Mountain Lion or later, and Apple has even offered most of the last few OSX updates for free completely.

You have three options: Upgrade the laptop if you can, study using a public computer somewhere (school? Library?), or just use your smartphone.

If you have a 10-year old laptop, it's probably time to take out some more of that student loan money and upgrade. Otherwise, just bite the bullet and spend the $20.

If your Macbook Air is the 2008 or newer model and you've been accepting the free upgrades as they've come, you won't have any problems.

It is a newer model and I accept the upgrades almost all the time (I think)... Are you saying that I should be fine?

Yes. The alternative is rent a virtual machine to log on to uworld. You can rent those cheap .

My macbook is over 5 years old and is running 10.11.6 just fine (yes, it's a little slower since I upgraded to El Capitan but only really noticeable during boot up). I'd suggest upgrading your OS or acknowledging that your computer has outlived it's life expectancy and buy a new one.

How much is a new macbook, $1k? What if you want to do ortho but can't study well enough to get the necessary scores and end up in family medicine. That will cost you ~$200k/year. Can't just consider the cost of the laptop in a vacuum.

How old is your laptop? My 2007 MBP is still kicking (though the latest version of PowerPoint eats up RAM like a mother...) and I've never had to pay to upgrade the OS or run into issues with UWorld.
