Lets suggest some changes for next year's AMCAS application:

Have LOR go with grades/transcripts
Get rid of secondary fees
Swimsuit competition
>15 personal experience slots

I doubt seriously that adcoms would want to read through > 15 personal experiences. There's a reason there's a limit 😉

I agree. There is no way that someone has done 15+ ECs that are actually meaningful enough to include on an application.

Get rid of secondary fees

Since most schools nowadays (even Northwestern and Duke) give every applicant their secondary (without even looking at GPA/MCAT), secondary fees should be removed. If that means increasing the primary fee, so be it.

I agree...But does AMCAS have any authority over secondary fees? I don't think so but I could be wrong.

So here's a thought: why not eliminate AMCAS altogether and just apply to the schools you want to go to and pay their app fee, since you have to anyway? I would gadly have shelled out the money to send my transcripts to individual schools, it would have been far less than the AMCAS fees. Yeah it's a little bit of extra work, but many of the secondary essays and questions were redundant with AMCAS anyway (i.e., "Why do you feel you would be a good physician? What experiences have led you to this field?"--does anyone NOT address those things in their PS? And how about the secondaries that make you fill in your grades and courses for the pre-med reqs?). To me, it only makes sense to have a centralized application, especially one as expensive as AMCAS, if that's the only one you'll have to do; if you're still going to have to fill out another app and pay another fee at each school, why have AMCAS at all? 😕

I meant for there to be more jokes e.g. send the secondary to GW/GT/NU on 2-ply to make the rejection more comfortable but the discussion/flame AMCAS thread that is developing seems to work too. G'head 👍
