During my undergrad, I had an early academic misstep and did not know where I wanted to take my education until later. Healthcare offered me a potentially fulfilling future and I warmed to the idea of pursuing medical school. However, the reality of my academic competitiveness in my own mind had discounted medical school as a possibility. Instead, I opted for an alternate path and ended up as a current OD student.

However, long story short, regret and what if's have been an ever present pebble in my shoe. It has been now 2/3 of an academic year and I feel even more strongly that medicine is where I belong. I would like to reach out to those who have been in my shoes for advice, and especially if you were successful in the transition. I have taken a leave of absence to really think over whether or not I should continue with my OD education or redirect my time and energy into a more risky venture like medical school.
