I'm still trying to decide which would be best for me because they are two completely different programs. Loma Linda has its own hospital, but you have to share the campus with all the other med students while at Chapman you are in the same building just sharing with the other DPT students. Chapman is trimester and Loma Linda is quarter with religion and md classes added. Loma Linda is cheaper to live and even cheaper on campus while Chapman I'll have to commute from home because the OC is too expensive to live. Do any current DPTs have any advise for me?

I am not a current DPT student but will be this Fall. I interviewed over at LLU and got accepted. I had to decline only because I found out afterwards that I have to relocate to San Diego. My impressions of LLU are mainly positive: strong program, professional and friendly staff, faith-based approach in academia, healthy community, cost is reasonable for the state of California and for being a private school...

Now the only thing I had concerned with LLU is the number of total hours in their 3 year curriculum. They break down classes and it's detailed oriented (almost like medical school)... No doubt in my mind you are going to be well-prepared when you graduate... but it was around 176+ hours! So far, the average hours for a DPT program is between 100 - 125 hours total. I'm not sure what Chapman is like but that just seems overwhelming.

I hope you get your answer and maybe a current student or alumni from each program would reply to this posting. Maybe you can email the program to see if a current student could answer some of your concerns. Good Luck!!!

I like that the program is known more in the medical field than chapman. A lot of those extra hours are because of the extra religion classes and some more md based classes. I am worried about being overwhelmed with their 11 week quarter system. :-/. Oh and the no meat rule. I just think that LLU has more recognition medically and would be more beneficial to me after I graduate than Chapman when looking for a job.
